[SOLVED] RAID0 problems

System: ASUS ROG Strix Z690-I, i9-12900K, 2x Samsung 980 PRO M.2. Windows 11.
The MB should support M.2 gen 4 PCIe.
However, when setting up storage system in RAID 0 (via RST), I do not get more than ~7000/7000 read/write. This is the same as AHCI configuration with the two 980 PRO individually.

Windows drivers should be installed correctly, I guess.

No.

Done exactly right, a RAID 0 may, I repeat may, show great benchmark numbers.
In actual user facing benefit? Nada.

Here's a couple of older tests with RAID 0 and solid state drives.

tl-dr....No actual benefit at all.

What you DO get is increased complexity and fail potential.

As with many things, what sounds like a good idea is not actually a good idea.
In the consumer space, RAID 0 is one of those things.

I just remember on my laptop 10 years ago it felt pretty efficient. I guess this effect has diluted out nowadays?

With HDDs, there might have been a perceivable benefit.
SSDs, not so much.
Higher end SSDs? Not even a little bit.

We are way into diminishing returns.

HDD raid o was a good thing since SSD's it's useless and gives you anouther point of failure just like it did with HDD.

FWIW - If you haven't figured it out yet - my guess is that one of your M.2 slots goes to your CPU, and the other slot has to go through your Northbridge.

Reason it didn't work in first place was a known bug of the m.2 slots in the motherboard ASUS ROG Strix Z690-i.
But the Raid is skipped anyway now...
