I just upgraded my system and I'm having troubles with it posting. The Dram light is red and it won't post. I'm wondering if I just need to update the bios or if the ram is straight up not compatible.

My specs:
Ryzen 9 9900x
Crucial pro 48gb 6000 mt/s cl 48 ddr5
Rtx 4080 super
Gigabyte x870 Eagle Wifi7

Couple things here. Upon powering on, how long did you let the system set before assuming failure? New AM5 systems can take a couple minutes to self configure their hardware before actually booting.

Also, if waiting doesn't help, remove the 4080 and use the integrated video to see if that helps (yes, you have integrated video now).

What was upgraded? RAM?

This motherboard (do verify)?

https://download.gigabyte.com/FileL...1002_e.pdf?v=6241c0ab743cd1a2617c754991056600

Some motherboards require that the first physically installed RAM be place in a specific slot. Typically DIMM_A2 or more specifically for the linked motherboard --- > DDR5_A2.

Reference Section 2-4, Page 14.

Reinstall RAM per the User Guide/Manual instructions.

Post accordingly.

Everything but my boot drive, case, and power supply was upgraded. So it practically a new pc.
I did start with A2, and it has been on for about 5 minutes.

Sorry, I'm new to this. I got the pc as a prebuilt and have finally got up to date parts.

I un-installed the gpu and turned it back on for around 7 min now. It still will not boot

Understood. Make sure that the 4-pin, 8-pin, and 24-pin power connectors are firmly attached to the motherboard and PSU (assuming modular cables). Also verify that the memory is firmly seated into their respective slots.

What is the make/model of your PSU?
I double checked all power connectors and everything is in order.

My psu is the evga 750 gt supernova 750w 80 gold plus

Do you think it could be that my ram is not suitable or the bios needs to be updated for it to be.

I know that this ram is not on the QVL for this motherboard but the 5600 mt/s version of it is.

So it has started booting, I guess it just needed to sit idle for about 20 to 30 min.

I do have one more question if it isnt a bother.
My psu only came with a daisy chained 8 pin connector and not another one. Would it be fine to connect that 2x8 daisy chain to the 16pin adapter for the 4080 super or should I just buy a new psu?

Yes. It will be fine. Use it.

I think i got the 2x8 wrong I'm not sure what to call it. It's 1 cord with 2 8 pin connectors attached into the 3 headed female adapter nvidia game me.

That will work even though it's one cord?
And what about the third female head to the nvidia adapter, is it ok to have it empty?

I'm sorry for all the questions, I just really don't want to mess this up

Understood. You mean the PCIe power coming from the PSU - AND - an adapter cable that came with the PSU. Correct?

If so, time for a new PSU. You need 3 PCIe connections to pride the necessary power for the adapter.

I think so yes. I have just one cord that is a daisy chain of 2 8 pins from the psu and of course the pcie slot itself.
I have tried plugging in the gpu this way already bit it doesn't seem to be powering on. The fans won't work and no monitors are detected when displayport cords are plugged into it

The gpu is also not detected in task manager

I'm assuming this is a sign the gpu isn't getting enough power to even start

Don't risk possibly damaging your GPU. Use the integrated video until you can replace the PSU. Don't use any other adapters to create another PCIe power connection from the PSU.

IF you had another PCIe cable designed for the PSU, that would be another matter and should be okay.
