Getting a new PC. I use my com mainly for video/graphics rendering.

I'm having a dilemma between getting an i5 3570k or an i7 2600k.

How important is hyper threading? Looking at benchmarks the performance is virtually the same.

Thanks.

Hyper Threading basically allows for your CPU to have "extra" cores thus allowing better handling of multitasking on applications. If your main use for your PC is going to involve video/graphics rendering, then having hyper thread would definitely make things faster. But when you only do gaming and the normal stuff such as web browsing and word processing, that feature would not be much of a benefit.

Hope it helps!
