[citation][nom]cburke82[/nom]It can be very "samey" that for sure. But it is hard to go elsewhere when you have so much time involved in your characters lol. I did exactly wahat Blizzard is guessing happened. I leveled to toons throught cata and got board and left lol.[/citation]

bored*

[nom]suture[/nom]Well WoW is kinda boring right now but, i doubt any FPS clone or MMO clone (cause yeh.. lots of poor clones of FPS and MMOs outhere) can last 7 years.Lets wait for the "NEW" blizzard MMO (when i say "new" i hope it wont be another clone)[/citation]

Counter-Strike has been out for 12 years now. Where the f*ck have you been? If you don't believe it's still thriving, check out the ESEA community: www.esea.net.

and that's why Blizzard is working on "titan" a whole new MMO build from scratch with everything they'v learned from WoW, their succes and their mistakes.
There s only one thing that will kill WoW, it's Blizzard's next MMO.

UO was a clone of meredian59. This genre is getting old. Its all the same crap now. Id say beyond UO and EQ MMORPGS havent changed at all. Wow brought nothing new to the table, nor does anything since.

11.4 million subscribers.. the cheapest tier assuming you buy 6 months at a time goes to 12.99 a month so $148,086,000 per month minimum coarse mose people do month to month so probably closer to the max at 14.99 a month $170,886,000 .. yea they's hurting big time from ya rift they'll miss that .6 million subscribers or $8,994,000 or 5% of thier subscriborship

except the vast majority of those subs are in Asia and dont pay anywhere near 12.99US a month to play. they might pay something more like 4-5$ us to play

I miss old ultima online, player leveling was simple and mostly transparent, It forced the weak into teamwork, whereas even two level 50's couldn't stand a chance against a level 60 in WoW. Even though it was 2d, the things we did on Siege Perilous as a guild role playing orcs in Shadowclan.. those were the days.

And this is the main reason why i Don't play Rift, all they have done is bash WoW sense it started getting advertised and Rift is a huge clone to wow just with better graphics. The game is very bland to me, empty environments, typical quests etc. I dont mind competition but to sit there and bash a game that has been out for nearly 7 years broke tons of records, 11+ million players still playing, i have no respect for Trion for that. Games dont last forever, wow was bound to slow down at some point, hence the development of another MMO which I am sure is planned to hopefully succeed wow at some point, But anyways Trion is no where near as good as Blizzard is, aside from Valve Blizzard is one of the best company's out there that still strive on making quality games and That is why they are one of my favorite companies. Yeah some say they are greedy but they are a business and it takes a thriving company to continue to bring out new content and games to the masses. Until there quality slips I will continue to support wow.

I could say the same thing about the time sink EverQuest. The game is not the same game it was 12 years ago. The game engine will get tweaks but why fix it? It works.

The same can be said about WoW. Its easy to learn and you get drag into its world. Why change that formula?

So Rifts isn't offering more of the same?
Apart from slightly better graphics, its just that - the same.
Same key bindings, same colors for items (why is purple epic?), similar talents trees, typical crafting, ? for questing...hardly original.

I enjoyed WoW during vanilla and TBC. WOLTK ruined it for me. The badge system and the frequent gear resetting made progression worthless. I tried cata since they seemed to be heading back to their roots but they didn't just more WOTLK style badges and resets. Let's do 7 heroics a week and that should equal killing the last boss /sigh

I say not the "samey" because now the first time players cost is near triple. When a 7 year old game asks about $120, game plus the expansions, for first time player its going to be hard to get new customers. Rift is picking up all those not willing to front this much cash. Many free to play MMO's are taking a few looking from something new.

WoW is simply not competitively priced for the first timer. Its bleeding off a few old costumers every month and with more competitive MMO's they get fewer return costumers. They charge the most and the extra's they sale are free from those in their monthly price range. Without a price change WoW's customer base will continue to decline.

My friends rejoined WoW and they all quit after 3 months because they have reached 85 and got all the gears (non-raid) and all they could achieve (with a 5-man guild). So, yea... it's getting boring even after an expansion, unless you are really deep in it with a big raiding guild.

Unfortunately, that is rift as well. It took everything from other mmos and brought nothing new to the table. Rifts are basically randomly located Public Quests (warhammer) and the class system is unique, but in the end you're still focusing in 1 tree.

Rift is fun if you've never played 3/4 of the mmos out there, but if like myself you played em all, Rift just seems like reused content.

don't need a big guild, my guild is like 13-14 people we are almost 12/12 raid bosses and only raid 2 nights a week tues and thurs for 3 hours a week. its pretty simple, you donm't end up the top guild on the server, but have some fun and you personally can know everybody in the guild :)

WoW is just an Everquest clone, and rift uses the same system as those two. From what I gather, it's technical limitations that requires every single MMO in existence to use the exact same system. Maybe we'll get past that some day. But given how successful re-releasing the same game for years and charging subscription fees for it has been, I doubt anyone even wants to try.

Rift was an okay game. I was impressed about how well the game played and how polished it was at launch. Kudos to Trion for that. The questing was not too bad and nice to look at for the most part. However, it offers very little over WoW in terms of game play. Despite all the subclasses and possibilities, you tend to play the cookie cutters anyway. Good concept, but not much really there. Endgame PvP was a jolt to say the least. At level 45, you are having good rounds and able to handle your self. Once you hit 50, you get the wake up call that you will not likely have too much fun until you hit rank 3 or 4 since you are massively outgeared. I unsubscribed, but I cannot say that I wasted my time playing it. It was a decent game. There just did not seem to be enough to hold me.

Rift is an amazing game with Extreme graphics, extreme view distances , extreme level designs and awesome Play mechanics , If the wow lovers stop and give it a chance they will know what an amazing game it is.

[citation][nom]amstech[/nom]I played Rift, got to 25 or so, got a mount... lost all interest.Went back to WoW.[/citation]
Then ur a tard. why would you downgrade? you have no idea what the Rift world had. in wow you get dual spec here u get 5specs. and 9 total talent trees with amazing mehanics. The combat system takes real skills, The dungeons are way better designed , its a clone of wow and eq + more that you dont see till you get 40+

a tard for liking a different game? its called an opinion. I hate coconut, but my wife loves the stuff, does that make one of us wrong, or does it mean she orders the banana coconut pudding for desert while i get the slice of chocolate cheesecake. we both end up happy with different things. I'm glad you liked rift, good for you, but if it isn't somebody's cup of tea then why do you care what tea they drink, just keep drinking your new tea that you enjoy :)

I haven't tried Rift, but WoW pretty much killed all MMOs for me... Perhaps I'm just an antisocial freak, but I just don't like all the people. Noobs drive me nuts, and long-time players tend to be either smug or complete d-bags. You run into a couple of good people here and there, and I had some friends, but then the game just went downhill and got so repetitive.

WoW is "samey" after 7 years. Rift is already "samey" and it hasn't even been one year.

I'd like to see a Mech Warrior type MMO, heck I'd just like to see a Mech Warrior game period! There is a whole defined universe with factions and events, and arenas for PVP action. I think it would be great fun. I'm not impressed with Rift, it's boring and dying. That CEO is drinking the koolaide if he thinks Rift is hurting WOW. Everyone I know who went and tried Rift quit after a month or 2 at the most. They all tell me it's crappy and boring and not worth even trying. The "Wow killer" what a big joke.

What ever happened to Mech Warrior 5? It was supposed to come out they even had a teaser vid? I loved the Mech Warrior games and I think your right, if done correctly a Mech Warrior MMO would be amazing. It would be different from any other mmo out right now and could very well do some very cool things LIKE: Guild strongholds that could be raided by other guilds. Just think about how there are raids on cities in wow, but in a game like this the raids would be 10 story tall Mechs storming a faction city 😍

A mechwarrior MMO would be great, I agree. But there's apparently technical limitations requiring any game that supports a bunch of players to limit combat to button-pushing. There aren't any MMO FPS games or MMO racing games because of this, and mechwarrior would probably run into the same problem. Complex combat and constant input means lag would make it unplayable. I'd love to see a MW 5 though, 4 was mediocre, but there's still a lot of potential in the series. (Sure, NFS world and MAG are both mmo's technichally, but they limit players in a game to a little over 100, not the thousands sometimes in "normal" mmos.)
