Hello, I've seen a lot of posts about this issue online and everything I have tried to fix the problem has not seemed to work. It's very odd and has had me banging my head against a wall for a while. So, during gameplay the game will be running perfectly, for example Beam.ng Drive. my GPU will show only 30% usage and temps' wont usually go over even 70c. and then about 10 minutes or a lot of times less, my usage will jump up to between 95-100% and I will start dropping frames to Anyware between 10-4ish FPS, but the temps still won't move above 70c, and sometimes it'll come back around and others it will not.
I have done a factory reset, used DDU to uninstall and then reinstalled all my drivers the only thing I haven't done that I've seen online anyways is repaste everything but like I said my temps never get above 70c and using HWiNFO i haven't noticed any hotspots or the VRAM overheating. I have noticed however before that when this happens the GPU drops to 20 watts and caps at 300MHz. if anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear it cause I'm really at a loss
Dell G7 7700 Gaming laptop
Specs:
Intel Core I7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz
32GB RAM
2 1TB of NVME storage
Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB
Windows 10
Edit: I forgot to mention that this does not appear to happen when I have the laptop plugged in via HDMI into a monitor. I will test it further to make sure it's not a fluke, but I had it plugged into a monitor using it as a desktop for months and only recently started taking it to the bedroom with me and that's when this started happening.
