Hey everyone,
I'm deciding between two GPU options and could really use your input:

  • Used RTX 2080 Ti for $200 (good condition, no warranty)
  • New RX 9060 XT 8GB, launching in 2 days for around $300

My build will include a Ryzen 5 9600X, and I’ll be gaming at 1080p. I mostly play CS2, PUBG, and Warzone, so high and stable FPS is my main priority, not ray tracing or 4K. No productivity workloads either, just gaming.

Given the price/performance difference, and the fact that one card is older but stronger on paper (2080 Ti), while the other is newer and warrantied (RX 9060 XT), which do you think is the better option for my use case in 2025?

Thanks in advance!

I'd get something brand new. You get the warranty and ofc the RTX2080Ti is 3 generations old at this point, there's also the matter of Nvidia phasing out their older generations courtesy of driver revisions.

Thanks again for the feedback!

To be honest, what I’m really looking for is something that hits the sweet spot between performance and price, like the 2080 Ti at $200. I don’t mind buying used if the value is good and the condition is decent.

My main goal is to get the best FPS for competitive 1080p gaming, without spending more than $300.
I don’t need ray tracing or productivity features, just raw, reliable performance for CS2, Warzone, PUBG, etc.

Besides the 2080 Ti or maybe a used RTX 3070, do you guys have any other GPU recommendations in that price range (new or used)?

I would personally go with the 9060xt out of the 2. The 2080ti is not a bad card if you already have one but I would not personally go with that option now when you have the option of a new card.

The 9060xt outperforms the 2080ti in most of the benchmarks i can see at 1080p (using a 3070 as a comparison where a 2080ti is not directly comparible) so it's a no brainer for me. Better performance, newer tech, warranty, more Vram

Sorry i really need to learn how to read! My whole recommendation was against the 16gb 9060xt. The 8gb at 1080p will be fine in the games that you have mentioned (warzone is actually very reasonable with vram - usage less than 8gb at 1440p with most the eye candy turned on).

I think the question is how long do you want to try and get out of this card? If it is a longer term investment then it may be that neither card will be the best choice. The 2080ti may not have that long left in it and the 8gb of VRAM may become too restrictive.

Still think a newer card is better in this situation but it still feels a bit of a rock amd hard place scenario
