[SOLVED] Safe Temperatures for an FX-8350?

I've been hitting up to a maximum of 70c on my FX-8350 under heavy loads. I ended up turning turbo core off (which gives me overall around 10c less in temps, hitting 64c max under heavy loads now.). I'm wondering if 70c is acceptable, or if I should leave turbo off to avoid any permanent damage or reduced lifespan.

The FX series do not like heat, AMD say the max temperature is 61c for that cpu https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/fx-8350

You will be experiencing thermal throttling at 70c. However what program are you using to read the temperatures? The FX series were known to give false readings in anything other than the AMD software.

I used two different programs, I've used Open Hardware Monitor and Hardwareinfo64, where can I find the AMD software?

Keep in mind that there are 2 temperatures displayed by various programs for FX processors.
Core temperature for hottest core that's limited to about 60c and Package temp limited to 90c.

Figured out that my motherboard (GA-78LMT-USB3) won't let me set my voltage to normal, that's why my temps are so high with turbo on... at stock it gets very close within the thermal margin of max temp, without turbo all runs well without any throttling. Thanks :)

This is not a good situation and you're going to burn up your chip sooner because its being run out of spec. I'd get another motherboard that will allow it to run properly.
