safely remove hardware, ummm no thanks.

Hi I have XP running on a 300 GB raid 0 array but xp keeps the "safely remove hardware" notification for the two samsung drives (kind of ironic because removing one of them or stoping one of them would be tragic, not safe=))

But my question is how to remove the message completley so as to have no accidents. Thanks.

You could go into your Taskbar properties, customize, and select to "Always Hide."

After setup - open utility menu: Options - System - check "Disable Windows USB Hotplug manager" checkbox.

I think the real question here is: Why are the hard drives in your RAID array being reported as USB devices? Solve that stupidity and your problem goes away. :lol: :lol: :lol:

I have the same thing on my 2x250 sata raid 0. I just make sure that I never click on it. Although I would think that if you did only windows would lose the raid for that session. I dont think it would delete the raid itself. Maybe Ill try it if I ever half to load windows again.

Yeah, and so can SCSI. But surely the drivers aren't so stupid as to assume that the internal drive ports are mounting removable drives? Unless they are hot swappable? I mean just because a device on that protocol can be removable doesn't mean that every device on it is. :lol: :lol: :lol:

We're talking about Microsoft Windows here, right??? Well, ok, some drivers are written by nVidia, ATi, etc., but who wrote the API or whatever calls are being made?

The SATAII specification allows for SATAII drives to be hot-swappable. Yes, doesn't really mater when talking about internal drives, but this is why you can get PCI controller cards for external SATA drives.

Haven't tried it with my machine (though I may do so once I get back home), but I think that if you actually do select the safely remove device option, windows should pick up that the device is currently in use and not let you do it anyways.
