The times article about how drones attacked the rescuers? I thought it was interesting and might shed some light onto why so much of the world has a negative view of the United States.

Still not enough info Maybe a connection here maybe some guns for drugs maybe. Lots of speculation. I'm not convinced and I don't think many other people would be convinced.

You probably believe Nazi's live on mars.

No it sounds like they are making money not planning an invasion.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/nov/23/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-hezbollah-latin-america-poses-imm/

Check out this link (and actually read it). It looks like they are making a few quick bucks from other illegal organizations. I would like to see any sources in your links next time. What kind of journalist says "Heres an indictment but Im not telling you which one or a reference number" But you should be very scared of Mexico.

"You will see that we focus on South America, not on Mexico, so references that others made to 'Hezbollah in Mexico' are more speculative and not yet confirmed," he said.

-Thats from Roger Noriega assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs under the Bush administration.

So please stop plugging your ears and yelling "IM NOT LISTENING LALALALALALA"

also:

Indictment: is a formal accusation that a person has committed a crime. So yes a court will totally hand down an indictment with loose facts, thats why we have something called a jury.

Thats the problem OMG there's what you think and whats actually happening. I prefer to find out whats happening instead of fear mongering.

What kind of response are you hoping to get when you give a BS story with no information and then tell people to get their heads out of the sand. Also the report is from at least 8/30/2010 and nothings happened over the last year plus.

Beheadings have been common in Mexico from the cartels. That isn't evidence.

The link between the Quds and the Mexican cartel is also a joke. That didn't hold water and it was pretty much laughed at because of how shoddy the links were.

No doubt they have some people in Mexico, Canada, and the US. Hell, a couple years ago a couple Iranians were arrested for trying to make car bombs down the road from my house. It made national news. It is going to happen.. but it'll take them time.

Hezbollah is funded first by the poppy plant, second by the US (indirectly) and others, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, Jordan, etc, name them all. They all have ties together.

You make a point but what do you want done about it? Securing the border can only go so far against an enemy we can't easily identify.

Based on my intimate knowledge, we will not go to war with Iran. We have no incentive or reason. We don't have the money, the heart, or anything else. Iran's empty threats are worthless and laughable.

Sure, they might have some on our border.. a few dozen to maybe a couple hundred. But you're going off into the extremes about this.. tone it back and really think about what they want to accomplish.

The reason we have our army over there is to fight them there, not here. Read up on Michael Yon, or Generation Kill to get a perspective on how these people think and what they'll do. They're not coming here to fight us.. they're fighting us there because they don't know anything different and it is considered "fun" for them. Completely different culture.

What do you propose as a solution? Dearborn, Michigan has the largest population of Muslims in the entire country. Any idea why? Detroit is an international airport and becoming a Canadian citizen and then an American citizen is easy.

Hezbollah very likely may have sent people to try and speak with Mexican Cartels or leaders in South America. What would do you think should happen?

I don't anyone disputes that they could be there or anywhere. I guess what I'm getting at is what do you expect or think should happen? We should go invade Mexico with thousands of troops? We should occupy Mexico, Canada, and any other place that might harbor them or provide some passage into the US?

People realize a threat is there.. but it isn't like we'll be out dodging bullets every day we walk outside. We as Americans will not live in fear.

"When in Rome" - what other Countries do within their borders is their business unless it spills over to other Countries then it becomes "World Business." A lot of Countries have brutal, barbaric and primitive penalties to breaking 'their laws.' For that I really don't care. There are plenty of Countries that I nor my family will ever visit.

Borders, Mexico would be easy to fix for the most part -- (Prohibition) legalize all drugs and (Illegal Labor) legalize the jobs most folks don't want to do with expedited Background/Work Visa's. Some Counties approaches are brutality (scare 'em off) and some police (very expensive). There is no Utopian solution, I guess we could carve another 'canal' fill it with mad eating crocodiles, killer laser beams and buried mines.

Writing, yeah sure I 'wish' all news stories were based upon fact not an agenda. Unfortunately, there's plenty of both.

Let's face it. The problem is that we can only be as civil as our enemies. WWII ended quickly because it was brutal. Iran and Afghanistan drag on because we're too nice about it.

What do you want to know? Which city are you in? I moved to east TN coming up on a year ago. Love it compared to Ohio.

Actually, I've been all over the country and TN was one of the few places I would want to live in.

I can only speak from living in Kentucky, Tennessee is fine - both states have corrupt state senators talking out both sides of their mouth. Similarly, it depends on 'where' you are as to how backwards it can be. Major cities are fine but 20 miles out you're in Redneckville. 😉

Oak Ridge / Knoxville area.
working on assignment for DOE.

that's where my parents live, they retired and moved here.
that's how I know about this place and got an assignment close by...
we should PM..

So news today says American officials differ on striking Iran compared to Israel. The US doesn't want to take.. and very likely won't.

Israel, without us, may still attack knowing we would still come to their air politically first.. but they also know Iran isn't capable of doing anything more than what they've already experienced.

Israel/Iran may have a short lived war.. mainly stragetic bombings from Israel while Iran probably won't retaliate because they want a stronger political stance in the UN.

Oh really, you think!?
@jaquith - If Israel keeps up their covert assassinations of Iran's Nuclear Physicists or others then Iran will attack Israel and we'll be sucked into a war.
Israel also has a 'bomb'. I still feel very strongly that we, sad as it is, will go to war 'someplace' -- spin the bottle, but Iran seems to be the most likely that is if China allows us.

Iran is not likely. They are a puppet of something bigger.

War is not the solution this time. A regime change won't work. We tried that once and the international community won't allow it again.

Reality is if Iran was to have the bomb, China or Russia would have made it happen. Not the case. Iran is a puppet, therefore we will not go to war with them.

Making a bomb is very simple, enriching fissionable material isn't so simple; Iran is clearly producing fissionable material now. I suspect that they either have one or two now or soon will have one and the $1TB+ question is when will they test it.

I don't think the US will help Syria unless it's through the UN.

Making 'the' bomb is a lot harder than you think. Getting the material is very hard. How much material is needed is the question and how long at a poor production rate would it take to accumulate the required amount? The dynamics that go into making the bomb work is fairly hard. They make the bomb and test it and fail.. they lost all their 'material' and need to start the process over.

Syria has some issues.. look to them to be a minor threat and maybe some minor military action against them. Overall though, the UN and world is tired of the crap in the middle east and likely won't react at all.

I'm by education a Chemist, my uncle before retiring the leading Chimerical Engineer at Battelle and my Aunt, his ex-wife, a Nuclear Physicist -- trust me it's easy to make the bomb itself.

The rest of the World unfortunately isn't tired of easy money and the Oil Machine.

FX-Bulldozer.?

Yes. The concept is easy. Figuring out how to make it work is not.

hahah malmental i see what you did there...

Just google how hard is it to make a nuclear bomb (Or similar)

http://www.livescience.com/5752-hard-nuclear-weapons.html

I also understand the lots of heavy industry is needed to create components. If they bought the parts they needed it would be easier but to create a nuke(A useable high megaton) from scratch would be a task for any non-industrialized country.

Also I remember hearing that you needs millions of gallons of Heavy Water to even begin refining plutonium and tritium. Iran would have to use every centrifuge it has (Denying other advancements that need centrifugal refinement) for several years.

None of this is factual I am an armchair warrior with access to google.

The barrel type is as easy as it gets:

Worst is if you add other stuff like Hydrogen as a secondary; bomb within a bomb.
