I just purchased and installed a SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ...this was going into an existing system replacing a 5 year WD drive. After getting it formatted and Windows up, I'm noticing a constant high pitch noise from the new drive. It might be out of the hearing range of a lot of people, but I have overly sensitive hearing, and this is driving me pretty batty when the room is quiet.

I did a search on the forums and seen some people mention a humm from Samsung drives, but this is not a hum. Anyone else come across a higher pitched noise from there drives? Should I RMA it or just go for another WD?

Sorry for delay, I set up an advanced RMA with Newegg, should have the replacement drive in a few days.
Also I just noticed my external drive is the same drive, but eco 5400 RPM (HD103SI)...and it doesn't have this annoying noise.

I got the new drive, I noticed it's no longer showing "product of Korea" the new drive says Made in China by SAE Magnetics..for what ever that is worth. The drive doesn't have the high pitch noise but there is a noticeable clunk type sound on post and shut down. It formats fine, tests fine, no smart errors, so I guess that is just the noise the drive makes. So for now I guess the problem is solved.
