One of my family members recently gave me a 128mb SanDisk (cruzer mini) to
play around with. When I connected this device to my USB port it rebooted my
machine! One of the other problems that arose out of this reboot was the
incorrect BIOS setting of my DVD/CDRom drive!? The DVD name changed from
"Sony DVD RW DRU-720A" to "Rony DVD, RU- 720A,". It took about a half hour
to successfully reboot my WINXP SP2 machine.

This appears to be a bad plug n' play device. Has anyone else had a problem
with these devices, and if so how did you solve the problem??

Are you sure the SanDisk didn't have some type of Malware, Spyware or Virus?
Are you sure the same is true about your PC? Lastly, it could be a bad
SanDisk and/or USB port on your PC?
Never had an issue, so I've not had the problem to solve, with experience in
managing over 1000 Desktops/Laptops with Win2k SP3/SP4, and WinXP SP1/SP2 in
a corporate environment.

Thanks SFAQ for the quick response. No I am never 100 % sure about ANY PC or
the software/hardware that you might use in todays' environment. I keep
current my McAfee security center up to date and my ZoneAlarm is always set
at the highest Internet/Trusted security zone possible. The USB port that I
tried has never given me any trouble with other devices. All of the other
plug n' play devices work correctly when I plug them into one of three USB
ports.

If there might be a virus that I have not heard of please educate me. Thanks
again. . . Tom J.
