Hey, just built a new pc. This is my 3rd.
CPU: i7 9700k
RAM: 8x2 16GB, Corsair 3200MHz DDR4
MOBO: MSI MAG Z390 TOMAHAWK
GPU: GTX 1080 G1 Gaming
M.2. NVme: WD Black 250GB

Problem:
I just built this new machine. Installed windows on my first M.2. drive but wanted more storage. Got the used drives from my previous build and I put them in. I connected the sata cables and the power cables. But nothing is showing up in either bios and windows. I am using one 1TB HDD and one 250GB SSD.
They should both work. They worked about a week ago (that's when I removed everything from the old build).
Any suggestions? Thanks 😀

Solution
Try reseating SATA data and power cable/connectors again and double check. Before reconencting the drives to ports make sure PSU is off by throwing the little switch and also to be on the safe side desconnect PSU from the AC outlet.

Also check other ports on motherboard and if that doesn't work test with different SATA data and power cables and also try a different SATA power cable from the PSU (be it a modular unit or not).

If BIOS doesn't see them Windows shouldn't either. Try resetting the BIOS to defaults if still no go, clear CMOS. Then try.

If possible test the drives in another computer. If they worked it might be either cables, ports or the controller/motherboard.

I got it working thanks. I only needed to switch to the other sata ports. Thank you :)
