Get into System Properties, double click on Computer, and find a free IRQ. Set the soundcard to a free IRQ. Remove the onboard audio from system settings. Restart your computer and enter Bios. Disable onboard sound. The restart and try the Add New Hardware wizard again.

Suicide is painless...........

make sure it is seated in the isa slot properly or try moving to a different isa slot if possible. Also can you set one slot or irq to use an isa/legacy device? (just an idea)

Your isa/legacy advise is right on the money! If you do not have your corresponding isa slot assigned in this matter the card will not be intialized. Does the card show up in the bios screen just before windows starts to load?

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!
