Good morning. My name is charles and I have a problem with my NIC card being installed. i am wanting to install the card on a NT4 server to talk with a 98 client. i pop the NIC in the slot, turn the server on and i i get is a blue screen and nothing else. also, the monitor lights are "running" showing an error. i am unable to get off the blue screen and do not even get the booting menu. when i also try to turn the system off--it does not respond. i have to unplug the power supply to turn the unit off? any ideas would help greatly. thank you

I'm not expert but it sounds like either the card isn't seated right, as in take it out....turn on the computer..make sure it runs, then try again making sure the card is seated in, and also maybe try using another pci or isa slot...ya never know....(does it have jumpers, could be using same address as another card)

What make/model of NIC? Is it ISA or PCI? If ISA does it have a block of jumpers on it?.
NT4 Server can be a bit fussy about hardware changes after O/S installation, especially with ISA cards.

NT4 can be a bit psycho with just about any hardware changes you ever make with your system. I can't stand it. Of all of the operating systems I have ever had the (dis)pleasure of using, NT4 ranks absolute worst. And this is uncluding comparing it to plain old DOS.
