Hi,

Just at the end of the 'speed-boat' section we enter the Black-Mesa East
bit.. you go into a room and get scanned.. then you follow the girl and she
calls the lift. Then... nothing!?!?

The lift comes up and she just stands there. I tyry going into the lift,
pressing all the buttons.. try leavign the room but the door's locked.
Seems to be a game problem.. anyone else had this?

I had the same problem. Found the answer at the forum at Halflife2.net
Symptom: In Half Life 2, when you reach the fifth chapter (Black Mesa East)
you get stuck trying to go down the elevator, the character: Dr.Mossman
doesn't get in the elevator and just stands there.


Cause: Contrary to what most people have been thinking, the bug is not
caused because you have an illegal version of the copy of Half Life 2. Many
users who have bought the original game disc are facing the exact same
problem. The problem is most likely caused by a glitch, which doesn't
execute the proper AI Scripting for the character, thus causing nothing to
happen.


Solution: The solution to this problem isn't quite complicated as one may
think. To fix the problem, walk into the elevator and press the F6 and F9
Keys one after the other. If it doesn't work try moving to various locations
inside the elevator and then pressing the keys. Remember, first press the F6
and then press the F9 Key. Keep doing this until the problem is fixed. I
have tried this solution on various copies and various systems and they all
fix the problem just fine! Happy Gaming!

Just save by pressing F6 and immidiatly press load F9 that will do.

In which case I take back my obvious attempt to trick the OP into
revealing whether or not he had a pirated copy.

You'd better not have a hookey copy now you've been helped. We have
people here who will um... rant at you if you are a pirate.

The F key thing worked, thanks.

I also connected up my old 56k at home and did some updating, which also
fixed the problem.
