Hi there
I get so tyred from the shockriffle,
Some players use the secondary fire aimed on the first one, thats ok, i do
that too.
But ther are some players they do that so fast, from every corner, even when
they make a move, in every map, the hole game long, You got no change
Looks to me thats impossible by normal settings.
Is this a cheat, or a special keybinding?

There have been a couple of shock cheats, but nothing lately that I've heard
of. Some guys are just deadly with the shock rifle. Record a demo next
time you think someone's shock is suspect and post it to the binary group.

As to it being a bind: Most will say that the shock can't actually be
keybound to auto-track the ball, but there was a clue of how to do it posted
here in this group once... it has to do with setting your mouse sensitivity
to zero, but there is more to it than that and I won't tell anyone directly
how it is done because I consider it a pretty serious cheat. I doubt that 5
people on the planet actually know how to do it, and I bet I'm the only one
of those 5 still playing UT.

The other shock cheat required matrix moves (and bodens tools, if I remember
correctly) to be installed and loaded mutators to work. There were guys who
could explode the shock ball immediately (no wait between secondary and
primary fire), but that doesn't sound like what you are talking about. That
particular cheat was pretty involved and it included other things like a
player being able to carry more than one relic and damage not being
calculated properly (a buffer overflow that goofed up the servers ability to
calculate damage taken by the cheating player) and much more. Most of the
admins who saw it never beleived it was a cheat and they said it was caused
by a glitch in one of the matrix moves scripts (they were wrong). The good
news about that cheat is that it was carefully guarded by about 6 or 8
players and I don't think it ever propogated to the general population...
If that *is* what you ran into, I'd be interested in knowing what server you
found it on so I can email the admin to ask for his logs and share a little
info with him.

The likelihood, though, is that you are playing some shockwhores that have
better pings than you. I don't really know what your pings or skills are
like so I certainly won't claim that you ran across a shock cheat.. I
won't rule it out, either. But, until you grab a demo, I don't think anyone
can give you a solid answer.

Good luck and good fragging!

We have all been hammered by incredible skill of some players with the shock
combo. With a skilled player set up in CTF there is no escape if you go
after the flag. You have to take note of where the player is and go after
him to take pressure off your team and allow them to get the flag.

Sixdarts do you think that now you have mentioned the cheat is out there
people will go looking? And maybe find it?

I had thought (hoped) that the level of cheating had gone down as the
scumbags had moved on to newer games. I hope it never goes back up. It
used to be on the wrong server you could end up playing botters, Radar, Auto
fire, Invisibility invulnerability and heaven knows what else. Fun for
about 30 seconds then well time to leave.

I hope not. I always feel that information is power, though. Both of those
cheats I mentioned are defeatable from the server side. Even the keybind is
if you are running my most hated server mod (may as well be a cheat if you
ask me - a cheat for admins and can be used for malicious purposes by
gaining rights one aught not to have to players computers)... The server has
the power to download everyone's user ini, system.ini and other files. A
simple text search for the bind with an autokick takes care of it quick.

The best server protection is no protection right now. Only active admins -
and no chsp or version 451 etc etc etc. A completely unprotected 436 server
is the most secure from cheaters now... Funny, huh? - But I do agree. I
think that the greater number of cheaters have moved on (although the
greater number of actual players have also moved on as well)

When a player uses a single weapon to the exclusion of all others,
they eventually get *very* good with it.
