So I might have gone a little overboard since I'd rather have too much instead of too little. I didn't think about the heatsink wouldn't cover the whole chip so I guess I should have put it on the heatsink like the instructions said but now I have excess on parts of the cpu not covered. Should I leave it or clean it. I dunno if it will effect the cpu heat dissipation adversely. I'm including a pic so I can get some opinions on this. The thermal paste I used was Kryonaut btw. The picture of it.

I'd say just chill. My PC was built by someone who had literally been makin' a soup in there, but it was working just fine.
The different of such an excess hardly can go more than one degree celsius.
It's much more important not to put too low than to not put too much.
If u insist on it, clean it from the sides, but carefully, not to do something worse.
