I have a Intel I7 975 EE (Extreme Edition).
Should I upgrade to a 4790k, I don't have the money ATM but I wanna know if i will still be good for gaming/Streaming to twitch.tv

Solution
The best way is to try it out and see for yourself since you already own it. But the 4790 k is much more powerful than the 975, it's not just because of the extra clock speed, but also the 4 generation difference that gives it like 40% more power per ghz. And the fact that you can use higher frequency ram.

But your current i7 should still be good for the uses you mentioned, it might run into some problems with the latest cutting edge games, but it will be fine for moderate games.
I know people that get by on lesser first generation i7's still. Heck, I have a friend that still uses an i5 750 with dual 6850's. I mean comparing it to an i7 920 which is about the most common first gen i7 you see lying around these days, it holds up very well.

A 975 actually has slightly better performance per individual core than an FX6300. So even in games, which would have been the biggest concern for an old 4+ thread processor, it still holds up well

People can't tell you if you should upgrade. Only you know the answer to that question. No one knows what you do with your rig but yourself. Does it do what you want it to do? Or doesn't it? You use it every day. You tell us......
