I just bought an LG 27GP850-B and just wanted to know what would be an optimal connection to use? I’m mostly asking because having read other monitor reviews that have similar features and resolutions having individual limitations depending on whatever connection they used I just wanted to know which of the two connections would I get the most benefit or benefit completely from?

According tot he specs of the monitor;
if you want to go 165Hz, you will need to use DP. If you're fine with 144Hz, then HDMI is your route.

What GPU are you working with?!
A GTX 1080Ti

Actually, you can use either DP or HDMI. HDMI 2.0b supports 144hz and you will not be able to discern any difference between 144hz and 165hz. If you can, then you need to go get a job working for blur busters or monitornerds, because they can't, and scientifically, neither can the human eye.

But like Geofelt and Lutfij both indicated, if you want 165hz refresh rate you will need to use DP.

And the majority of the Ultragear displays are great. I have three of these and they have been going strong for a number of years. I totally love them.
