@Paladin: Heh long as you knew that in advance have fun with it, otherwise you'll end up on the phone getting one of those international tech support.
To hear you properly and clearly enough for the 100th time, end up screaming or slamming down the phone near the end of the call.

MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-034

16GB DDR4 2400 MHz
256GB SSD
1TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

I'd take more (and better) pictures but my phone is being stupid right now with my memory card so I'll have to wait a bit before I can take some better ones.

My first PC build. All new.

MOBO: MSI Intel Z170 KRAIT-GAMING-3X
CPU: Intel Skylake i5 6600k 3.5GHz
GPU: ASUS Dual GTX 1060 O6G
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB(2 x 4)
PSU: Seasonic M12-II EVO 520W
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 103
Storage: Toshiba P300 1TB HDD; Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Black ATX Midtower
Peripherals: Logitech G810 Orion Keyboard; Logitech G403 Mouse

Coming together

First Light

The GPU is at 1569MHz out of the box. It's overclockable to 1785MHz but I havn't done that. The CPU is OC'd to 4.1GHz and the RAM to 2400MHz.

I removed the yellow sticker from the PSU with a heat gun. It looks much better without it.

Altogether pretty pleased with myself :D, she's a beast, but I can't take all the credit. Thanks to Aeacus for his help choosing a decent power supply and mobo and general advice. I'm very happy with the results. Total cost around €1300 including mouse & keyboard. It eats up games for breakfast.

Your finished build looks great and so does the cable management. :) Add a side window and build would look even better. :D

Nice build! I am totally going to get that white 1060 when I complete my pending Ryzen upgrade. Now that I got my laptop it won't be too much longer.

No you didn't just say that to me, alright man unplug the computer put that nice skylake machine in the box. [:maikutech]
Ask the root administrator to have ups pick up your new computer and give it to me for testing till 5-13-2018.
Just need to make sure it works, plays games, f@h, other stuff for daily life work. >_>

Jokes aside I suggest you look into building up your computer.

Looks nice! How's that MSI board handling? I'm looking at upgrading one of my rigs to Ryzen. I'm thinking of going with the B350 Tomahawk and the R5-1600X.

As far as functioning as a high-end motherboard I like it. Easy in-OS overclocking is nice, and a first since I haven't had a build in so long, and I have to say I like it.

The on-board sound is great, and makes the best use of my surround I've had in a sound card yet.

The only part that doesn't really work as advertised is the app-based functionality like "control the colors of the leds with your phone". Even the monitoring app is pretty epic fail and doesn't really work.

Other than that, great board. And the windows applications provided are plenty enough for interacting with the above features.

To be honest, it was nice to find a board that was heavy duty enough to support me beating on it like a gorilla as I tend to be hard on hardware no matter how careful I am.

Ahaa :D I AM the Root Admin, as in, the only one who's gonna be touching it :kaola:

This is as good as you need for 1080p. But I am already thinking about a better processor. Although maybe in a different machine. This PC building thing is kind of addictive. I already have a CPU cooler for it. Damn it I can't wait to build my new computer. Anybody want to buy a skylake PC?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylake_(microarchitecture)
Well you built your first machine, why not learn from it, bestway is trial and error and screwing around with old to get to know things better.
First computer I had was a gateway essential, 433mhz socket 370.
Slow as dust for 1000 dollars my mother bought it makes me wish I would bought 650mhz pentium 3 at the time.
This is what drove me into building computers in 1999.
Having windows 98se and then Me for a short time and got xp pro when I went to college 119.00 retail.
Good way to learn and having someone else teach you or mentor you from time to time.
Use your computer for a year. If you don't like it break it down.
Take what parts that are really good to you and start a new pc from it.
The rest of it you can sell it or give it away or throw it inside the trash can.

 Why the link?

Nah there'll be no screwing around with it. Of course I'll learn as I go but I did enough research before attempting this build. The great thing about our ever expanding neocortex is we can learn from other people's mistakes, why make them ourselves through trial and error? It's my first PC build yes, but I'm educated enough to know it's MHz not mhz. It's not difficult.

Honestly I never heard of those machines you mentioned but it reminds me of an old BYTE magazine I once found online from 1983 :D

Then I'll leave it to you learn, I'm not going to waste my time trying to help someone who doesn't want to learn.
I linked you that so you could see what all the skylake cpus are out there.
You mentioned you wanted to rebuild again, so there is your reference chart.

Good luck.
