Told myself that now that I have a job, I'd snag a GTX 1080, or equivalent, on the conditions that I maintain this job until then, have wiggle room for money, and on the condition that I do well in school and keep up good health (lots of conditions).

Current GPU is a 970.

Main questions I have are:

1) Do we have a price estimate for the GTX 1080 yet?

2) Do we have any idea how it compares to the GTX 900 series? I know that it's supposed to have 4 stacks of HBM2 (compared to the FuryX's 4 stacks of HBM1), and since it's a whole new architecture it's supposed to have extra transistors and stuff, but is there anything solid on the performance difference? There's leaks regarding the fact there's 16GB and 32GB VRAM Cards coming out, but my assumption is that these would be specifically for Super Computers.

3) Do we know of any rumors or leaks as to when the GPU comes out specifically?

4) Would an i7-4790k CPU at stock speeds (4ghz quad-core) become a bottle-neck when used in conjunction with a high-end NVIDIA Pascal for gaming?

5) What resolution would you assume to be the "limit" for "ultra" next-gen gaming with a single high-end NVIDIA Pascal card for sufficient frame rates(GTX 1080 or equivalent specifically)?

Two good rumor websites to check out are:

Here's some Pascal news:

Nvidia gets first samples of GP100 from TSMC, begins internal tests

Haha it will be interesting to know for sure what kind of naming scheme nvidia would come out with Pascal. But at the very least it will not be like 1080, 1070 lol. Most likely 1800, 1700 and such.....but i do hope they come with something that most of us can't think of 😛

In the past years, the naming conventions for things are getting worse and worse. I'm a Nintendo fan, and some of their video game naming sucks these days. Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8... Why not give it a cool name, like Double Dash for the Gamecube? We go from Super Smash Bros Melee and Brawl to "Super Smash Bros for Wii U". Very original name Nintendo. Or just like "Wii U".

Same with Windows. We go from Millenium to XP to Vista to... 7, 8, and 10.

Some reviewer die try running some games to see if win10 will bring performance improvement in games. I think their result are pretty much the same. But i have seen project cars videos about having significant more performance under windows 10 vs windows 8. Though both actually very well exceeding 60 fps and more into the mid 90s with win 10 easily exceeding 100fps.

Im ready for pascal to hit and as some said i feel its going to be geared for 4k nicely which will become the new standard once people see how well 1 gpu runs at the resolution. Heck even 980 Ti is doing sweet but it only gets better. Woo

The new Titan is actually going to be rocking 16GB HMB2, and their professional work station card will have 32GB HBM2.

not much info about AMD next line up yet. but might not coming out soon when AMD will launch their x2 flagship this month (paper launch this month with actual availability in january next year). hopefully it will be entirely new architecture from top to bottom but some people expect only the flagship will be based on new architecture while the rest is rebrand usual. so either their rebrand Fiji as it is or shrink them using new process.

1.No information however based on other offerings my guess is $650 -750 USD

2.My guess is the 1080 ti or what ever it is called will 8gb of vram based on rumors on the web however nobody knows.

3. My guess is the Titan will come out first with the 16 gb of vram and than a lower priced flagship will come out in the 3rd or 4th quarter depending on what AMD has to offer.

" Expect shortages due to high demand and new manufacturing process yields"

4. 4790k should be okay however with dx12 it's possible that more cores will be more beneficial however nobody knows yet.

5. My guess is a single pascal flagship card will be as powerful as 2x 980 ti's.. Good for 60 hz 4k panel or 144 hz 2k panel.

To spend 600ish then pascal to drop eh? I have a 980Ti my self and yes i could go sli but im waiting to see what is ahead before making any moves

You have a 4k monitor another 980 ti will be beneficial if you play demanding games & like to crank of the settings...

" Pascal will most not likely not be available for at least 6 months"
