(SOLVED) Low upload speed problem P8Z77-V Pro

So here's the deal, I got a new computer a few months ago but many websites have loaded a lot more slowly on the new rig, and uploading videos is just plain painful. From speed tests I found that my upload speed of about 100Kb/s, and pingtest.net shows a ping of 99ms and a jitter of 3ms with 0% packet loss.

With that, I decided to go after upload speed....I first tried to narrow things down by doing speed tests using wifi (~400Kb/s) and using the ethernet cable plugged into the laptop instead of the desktop (~450Kb/s, with download being 2Mb/s faster.) Reading up, I found that Asus iControl can mess with your speeds, so I disabled it. This didn't help, so I figured I had a bad network card on my motherboard. I went out about bought an intel gigabyte CT card, and got the same result! Of course, all drivers are up to date.

Any ideas?

System specs:
Asus P8Z77-V Pro with Intel 3770K (onboard Intel 82579V)
Windows 7 Enterprise
D-link DIR-625 router

does the same thing happen if you bypass your router and plug directly into your modem? That will tell you for sure if its your PC hardware and rule out the router as an issue even though wifi is faster

I tried that just now, and my upload speed had trouble climbing above 70Kb/s. Of course, using the ethernet cable plugged into the router with the laptop yielded much faster results.

are you using the onboard NIC or the PCIe NIC when doing this? Are you using the Current drivers and any applications to "optimize" you connection?

I'm hoping to get the onboard NIC working, but I bought (and subsequently returned) a PCIe after all these tests on both cards got the same results. All drivers are up to date on everything, and no applications affect connections that I am aware of.

Are you running any Peer-to-peer file sharing programs? If so, those can cause slow upload speeds. If not, you may have an issue with your ISP. You've already done enough troubleshooting to rule out just about everything else.

I'm not running speedtests with anything open that would use any bandwidth.
How could my ISP be the problem, if I get higher speeds with a different computer on the same physical connection?

Try to reset your TCP/IP Stack, this is your process with WinVista/7


1. To open a command prompt, click Start and then type CMD in the Search programs and files.
2. Right-click CMD.exe icon in Programs and choose Run as administrator.
3. When the User Account Control box pop up, click Yes.
4. At the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Note If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
5. Reboot the computer.

Thanks for the idea, but it didn't work.

Incidentally, we upgraded the internet and the higher speeds are being reflected using the laptop, both wireless and the ethernet connection, but there's been no change on the desktop.

Could this be a hardware issue?

Well, wouldn't you know it? I uninstalled the Asus AI suite, and now my upload speed has shot up to 2.2Mbps! Note that I've had iControl turned off the entire time, but there must have been something still throttling me.

Dude, you just made my day! For weeks I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my rig has terrible upload speeds and the rest of my computers, hell even my consoles, have better upload speeds. I too have an asus p8z77 deluxe and had AI Suite installed. Uninstalled it and immediately my uploads went from .32mbps to 5.07! My download was always fine at 30 (I pay for 30 and 5), but my uploads were so slow. I had forced 100mbps full duplex, connected straight to the modem, and just could not figure it out. I can't thank you enough. Thanks again!

Just ran across this thread and wanted to say many thanks for the tip. Was on the verge of ordering a new Ethernet card, which I now know would not have solved the slow upload problem! Uninstalled Asus AI suite and went from 500kbs upload speed to 10Mbps upload speed. Do you think anyone at Asus knows about this problem or are they just asleep at the wheel?

Do I need to replace the Asus AI suite with something or am I fine without any equivalent to it?

Thank you everyone. I've had slow upload speed for some time now and just dealt with it. Today we have Comcast come out due to severe issues with the internet and TVs. They changed out some amplifiers and some cables. All desktops here are getting 31mbps down and 7mbps up; EXCEPT MINE! I get the download speed, but my upload was 0.62mbps. I found this thread and now I got my 7mbps up.

I have ASUS AI Suite II installed on my Windows 7 Pro machine. I was able to go to Control Panel, Programs, highlight AI Suite II, and click the 'Uninstall/Change' button. this brought up a list of all the utilities within the Suite. I left everything installed, but Network iControl. That seems to be the culprit.
