The doll stash - created when you put Wirts leg and two Horadric Scrolls
into cube and transmute.
Dolls are added by putting stash and doll in cube and transmuting.
You can NOT get your dolls back out of the stash.
Have any of you _used_ this? Did you know it says (besides 10 poison over 2
seconds) plus one to find potion after about 3 dolls and plus two after
about ten, but, find potion works different than regular LOD, you only find
purple, no red or blue, plus, sometime you get the 'soul' of the monster you
killed, which turns into an egg which can be just about anything at all. (I
currently have 40 dolls in it and it still says only plus two to find
potion)
Catacombs level 4 - HUGE - compared to regular. Also, I don't know what the
deal is exactly, it might be something like Baal's minions where you have to
kill them all before Andariel shows up, but my first character found her in
'regular' spot/room, whereas my second character bypassed a few rooms and
then she wasn't there (regular spot), I had to go and clear out those
bypassed rooms and she finally showed up in the last one.
Make money gambling - after you are about level 15 or higher, if you buy
certain items you have a very good chance of getting more for it than you
paid, specifically, the lowest priced wand, orb, short staff, and the lowest
priced necro head/shield. After you hit level 25 or so you also get offered
new items like holy water and ninja stars, the holy water is an automatic
money maker, cost of just over 3000 and sells for at least over 6000 and up
to over 150,000, the stars are also just over 3000 and the least you get for
selling is 2000 but can be over 100,000 also. As you can see, it does not
take long to make money when you pay 3168 and get back 150,064 or so.
Lots of green and gold items from gambling - even in normal. Nagelring
rings (heh, see my 'organization' in my headers), Manald heal rings, super
duper mf ammy (150% mf!!!), etc.
Does anyone know, where is the stash in act 3? (that is as far as I have
gotten so far, also, is it hard to find in act 4 and 5?)
For those looking for / needing scrolls - save, exit, and restart the game
and go to the house near Charsi and check the bookcase - do this as often as
needed.
Love those torches, (extra magic find is always welcome dontcha know) make
sure to light one before hitting all those chests in catacombs level 4, I
light a torch, hit all the chests/cots/sarcophaguses/etc in sight, then do
the 'clean up' routine where I have to move stuff into some side room to
make sure I can even see it all.
Is there a list anywhere of exactly what each oil should be used on and what
they do? I am pretty sure that I have wasted a few by using them on the
wrong type of item, they disappear but nothing seems to have changed on the
item.
Oh, speaking of disappearing, I am not sure the parameters of the add
socket(s) cube recipe. My perfect gems were gone and nothing happened on a
green item, only works on 'white' items?
That is enough for now, please add any comments or observations of your own.

I just found out about that recipe yesterday, so I made it with the
Druid when he played last night. I hadn't tried the Find Potion, since
his Carrion Vine eats up corpses, but the Zon will be very happy to
hear this, when her turn in the rotation comes around again and she
gets to make hers. Of course, then I have to find 2 more dolls that
I'm willing to put in there (the Druid took 2, left her one, then
found a third).

And keep adding dolls to it, you can apparently get thousands in
there, and eventually you *do* get other attributes.

Auric Amulet, gotta love it ;-)

I haven't gotten there yet, but from what I'm hearing it *is* hard to
find in Act 4, haven't heard of Act 5 being a problem. WP back to Act
2 is the recommendation I've gotten.

>For those looking for / needing scrolls - save, exit, and restart the game

I've gotten exactly *one* book from there, and that's what I *really*
need. ATM I have more than enough scrolls, well, except for ID ones on
the Druid (who remembers to use them instead of paying Cain) but as
you said gold is *so* not a problem in this mod, it doesn't hurt to
pay Cain ;-)

Just picking it up and taking it to town isn't enough?

Are you trying with P Gems or P Skulls? I was told yesterday, again in
the other group, that it was P Skulls that were required for the
socketing recipes, but he may not have tried P Gems.

I still haven't gotten beyond the Black Marsh WP with either character
(got kind of distracted by a certain European Open Beta), so the only
thing I can add is one that you already know: Whatever you do, *don't*
sell a Valuable Elixir until you have several hours to kill gambling
;-)

And, I take it this means you got your problem with restarting it
worked out? Or are you still having to leave the game running?

Err... maybe not, the zon's beginning set includes a belt with 'Rest in
Peace' with like only level 3 requirement. I am not sure if you can still
do a 'find potion' on a corpse that already has 'lost it's soul" as it were.

Heh, thanks, I was wondering if it was worth continuing to add to it. Now I
just need to remember to put it into the shared stash before I quit any game
so that whoever I start the next game with can go get it.

Also, thanks *very much* for the oils list.
And to you too RelMark!

Actually, I have to run it with the -w switch, otherwise it is hit or miss
whether it will start or not, with about a 1 in 20 chance to run it is not
worth the hassle to run 'regular', my only complaint with this is that the
gold and yellow colors are MUCH closer to each other than when I run it
regular, so it is sometimes tough to tell if something is a unique or just a
rare item unless I pick it up.

A couple of hours???? Try a whole day. Sheesh. I couldn't get rid of 5
million gold in a couple of hours. However, it sure was worth it. Got
quite a few set pieces, almost full sets and lots of gold items.

While I said "several", not a couple, I still stand (sit) corrected.
IIRC, I gambled for somewhere between 4 and 6 hours, and still had
over 4 million gold lying on the ground when I accidentally exited the
game.

Currently I have over 70 dolls in the doll stash with two to find item.
I'm hoping that I'll get more attributes soon.

I'll let you know when that happens. I can tell you, though, that in
Act II I seem to be getting quite a few LESS dolls than I did in Act I.
In Act II, I'm getting more runes and Pgems.

Oh, that's right. I do recall you telling that story previously.
However, I will tell you that I had over 2 million gold and expected to
continue gambling when I took a break briefly. When I got back to the
computer, my gold was gone. TWICE. This same scenario played itself
out twice. But, gambling even 2 million gold is really quite a bit and
I was getting the feeling that Gheeds had given me the best he had to
offer at the time. By the time I was at the 2.5 million mark, I wasn't
getting anything exceptional, and when something did happen to come up,
I already had it in my stash. I've a splendid assortment of set pieces,
and gold items. Yellow's are a dime a dozen in this game.

And again, one of the advantages of playing SP, pause the game. I left
that game going overnight while it was paused and the gold was still
there when I got back (along with all potions and such that were on
the ground, when I got back down to playing for a bit, needing a break
from gambling). But yeah, I also had the feeling I wasn't getting much
more out of him, after less than 1 million gambled, but of course the
Zon was only in her low to mid teens at that point. *Another* reason
that I'm saving the Valuable Elixir that the Druid got out of an egg
for a while ;-)

Sheesh, so far I have 6 Valuable Elixir's and 6 Herb's in my shared stash,
not to mention 17 tomes of each type (total 34), but I only have 45 dolls in
my stash. Oh, also, if you are _using_ the doll stash, don't right click on
one of those soul thingies you get once in awhile, instead try taking that
to Gheed. You thought 500 million was bad? Try 750 million, lol. I think
I need to actually *play* the game for awhile again, last night I spent
about 80 percent of my time in town gambling and running to my stash to put
stuff away and back to gambling.
Oh, btw, does anybody need a page or two of lower eggs?

Yeah, I know. I've done that pausing overnight thing. But, being in
rogue encampment, I figured I was safe and my gold would still be there.
Nope. So, now I know. As for the valuable elixers, I have 5 of them
stored in my shared stash. I don't think I'm going to be running out,
lol. When I get to Act III, I'll try more gambling and see if I can get
some better stuff. Right now I've died for the third time trying to
kill Baal in the Tal Rasha Chamber. I completely forgot last night that
I wanted to find a "Cannot be Frozen" item to wear. I know I have one
in my shared stash. I remember picking it up somewhere and thinking,
"this will come in handy." IIRC, it's part of a green set. So, I'm
gonna dig that out and beat Baal later today.

When will you be getting back to CE to beat Act I?

*Baal* in Tal Rasha's? Oh. Joy :-( The item you're looking for, if
it's part of a set, is the Death's Guard sash, which would be my main
choice for belts if it had more than 2 rows. As to when I'm getting
back, the next round starts as soon as I get back from the store, but
this one's only to the Outer Cloister WP. I *will* make it out of Act
1 eventually ;-)

I haven't tried the herbs yet. I really don't know what that does to my
necro and I want to be in a "safe" place before I try it, lol. I have 4
of each tome. Is there really a reason to save them all? I have 77
dolls in my stash. What "soul thingies" are you talking about? All I
get are hearts and brains and such. I haven't see a soul of anything
yet.

As for the lower eggs, put two lower eggs in the cube and it will make
an upper egg. That's how you use up the lower eggs, lol.

Probably won't help the Necro much, the Barb on the other hand might
be helped by them. As to exactly what they do, I only have hints, so I
can't really help there.

Hopefully the ID tomes aren't full, with Cain charging for IDs I'm
trying my best to remember to *use* the ID scrolls instead of saving
them (read: the Druid, who has a Tome, remembers to, the Zon doesn't).
Other than security, as in not running out of scrolls, I can't think
of any reason.

Use your "find potion", apparently that's when the souls show up.

When you use the skill 'find potion' (that the doll stash gives you) on dead
monsters, it usually gives you a rejuv or full rejuv (or nothing at all),
however, once in awhile it will give you a little doohickey that is the
'soul of xxx' where xxx is the monster type. When you hover your cursor
over it in your stash it tells you to right click to make an egg. You will
know when you get one, it makes a totally different sound when it appears as
opposed to either rejuvs, sorta like a buuuuurp, lol, gues it is 'coughing
up' the item.

6000 extended pages in the stash and you're stopping picking up
anything that's potentially useful?!?

Err... I am not sure what she is talking about there, I was in Tal Rasha's
tomb myself last night and (although it looks a bit different) it is/was
still Duriel. (although, after he killed my merc and shadow warrior I
'bailed' myself until I get another level or three stronger)

Ah, ok. I haven't used the Find Potion at all yet. I guess I should be
trying that. Can't have too many full rejuvs and I love the eggs, lol.
Thanks dear.

That big blue thing that looks like an ugly dog isn't Baal? It even
asked me, "Looking for Baal?" Duriel is that tall skinny creature, no?
Cripes. How long do I need to play this game before I figure out who is
who? All I know is, I just kill everybody and get rewards. Sheesh.
