I do not try to hide who I work for look at my profile. My comparison of the f500R and the p1600 is based upon the horizontal scan frequency. And yes in my opinion they are equivalent. Both are capable of 1600 x 1200 at 85Hz the current industry standard. Yes theoretically the F500R could run slightly higher resolution and refresh rates, however your video card must support these.
You forgot to mention a few other facts.
P1600 5 year standard warranty, Sony 3 Years.
P1600 consumes 130-Watts Sony 145 Watts, here in California this is becoming a big issue
P1600 is slightly shorter, comes with right angle video and power cords so that you can push the monitor up against a wall saving desk space. Also the p1600 is 1% shorter in depth.
P1600 is 14.1% lighter
Price: P1600 $839 Sony is greater than $1,000
If you still want to compare specs compare the p1700 to the F500R
Who uses 21" monitors for text based applications, the over 500,000 21" monitors we have shipped over the last 16 years.
Sorry to piss you off, however general statements like brand "ABC" is better than brand "XYZ" are just not true. I'm not saying Cornerstone monitors are better than other brands or visa versa, even the best monitors sometimes do not perform as advertised.
