SSD data security

I recently put a Runcore ZIF SSD to try to squeeze a couple more years out of my Dell Latitude D430. It definitely is performing better.

Now, I want to use it for more than I was, which would mean loading more of my personal data on it. I've seen several threads that discourage the use of TrueCrypt on an SSD.

So, what would be the best way to secure my data? I'm not storing highly sensitive stuff; my main concern is protecting my data in the event the computer was stolen.

Any suggestions?

you already answer your question, put the data in the external HD or USB flash drive.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I want to use Dropbox to sync files from my desktop to the notebook. On my other notebook (mechanical HDD), I setup a TrueCrypt container and put my Dropbox folder inside of that. Would that be feasible with an SSD?

Dropbox allows you to sync your files online, that will be depend on the internet connection speed. For example if you use high speed internet like verizon FIOS, you can get fast download speed, and writting speed on the SSD compare the regular 7200rpm HD.

But one thing SSD is more expensive.
