Start Button in XP

Very minor issue with XP:
I have about 4 users that use the a computer loaded with XP: 2 of the 4 users, have a "pixelated" start button. By pixelated, I mean the word "start" is pixelated. However, the other two users, have a perfectly normal start button. Has anyone else had/have this problem? If so how do you fix it? Again, its really minor, but it's starting to annoy me ! Thanks !

Right click the Desktop. The Display Properties dialog will appear. Next click on the Appearance tab. Click on the Effects button in the lower right corner. In that dialog make sure "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen foots:" is checked and is set to clear type, not Standard. Click ok to close that dialog and click on to close the Display Properties and you're done.

lol, I didn't even notice that my start button looked funny. It's all better now though :)

Glad to help! I've been using Windows XP for a little over 2 weeks now, so I think I can say I am now a Windows XP expert!

Hmm, cleartype just pisses me off. I found that text looks sharper than in win2k or previous windows even w/o cleartype on. And when I turn it on, the AA look just annoys me.

If it's working...overclock it!

I know this question wasn't directed to me but I'm using an NEC FE950+ at 1024*768*32-bit.

If it wasn't directed to you, why the HELL do you answer? :) Joking. The reason I ask, and this may be helpful is that if you have an LCD monitor and it's not at native resolution, then text will appear messed up.

hehe. hmm, perhaps. But without ClearType on my monitor the Start also isn't that smooth. ClearType does make a difference on all monitors!! I love it!
