Question Steam download shuts off WiFi access to all other WiFi devices ?

So I am having quite a peculiar issue here. So when I download something from Steam let's say a game, it downloads that game but all the other devices that are running on the same wifi lose their internet connection. I have never seen anything quite like this. It's important to mention that if the download happens to be from other sources other than Steam, this doesn't happen. If anyone has seen this and knows a solution to this, I would highly appreciate getting a hand to solve it. Thanks guys.

Very strange, I can't say I know how to fix it, but I would try connecting the PC to ethernet and see if the issue persists. it could be a case of where Steam is using so much bandwidth that it disconnects other devices.

yeah, you're right. i don't have access to ethernet. I don't have a cable since I bought the motherboard equipped with inbuilt wifi. I didn't care to buy one. The amount of bandwidth Steam is taking for that download is close to the download speed of other downloads fro other sources like torrents, and games. It's super strange

It is strange that you only see it in steam but it is fairly common issue with wifi. If your pc for example has slightly stronger wifi signals it can easily overpower other devices. It could also be if your pc is rather far away from the other devices. Wifi sharing is really stupid. Devices will listen and if they don't hear another device transmitting they will assume they can transmit. This doesn't work well when there is a lot traffic from a single device and made worse when the other devices can not hear each other.

Could you maybe move some of the other devices to the 2.4g radio...I assume you are using the faster 5g for your downloads.

This trick will work until wifi7 get popular. Wifi7 lets end devices hog all the radios at the same time.
