I got a month to decide if i want to go from an Evga 580 3gb classified ultra to the basic 680 ?
anyone have benchmarks comparing the two? I see alot comparing the 2gb 580 to the 680 but not my card specifically. I dont have to
pay anything so should I just upgrade?

If it costs nothing, then yes upgrade. It is a much better card. Only thing i could possibly think that could matter is if you were playing at higher resolutions (1200p/1440p/1600p) or had a multiple monitor eyefinity setup (w/e the nvidia equiv is). I still think the 680 would perform better though. I'm not an expert on nvidia cards but this should be fairly accurate.

Even 1GB VRAM is enough for most games. 2GB should be all you need unless you are using really large resolutions with a lot of AA. Go with the 680.

As an aside, little b in Gb/gb means bit; big B means byte. A byte is 8 bits, so they do mean different things. I knew what you meant, and I'm not nitpicking, just throwing that out as a tidbit.

Also, how are you able to upgrade your video card without paying?

The 680 would perform better. It's been stated as where you would need Sli 580's for a 3D Surround setup you need a single 680 for the job.

The performance of the 680 is very much more superior to that of even 590 only because this isn't really the flagship GK110 that should have been released. Expect something ridiculous from Nvidia next year with the 700 series.
