Flash is one of the worst programs out there and that is made worse by the fact that more and more web developers cram as much of it into a site as possible. There is a very good reason why one of the most used add-ons for any browser is to block flash content. It uses too much resourses, crashes he browser window too often and regularly stays an active process long after the browser is closed and has to be terminated manually. At least on my 64 bit Windows it does. I am even trying the GPU accelerated beta version since I have an SLi /quad core and it still runs like crap. Adobe is without a doubt one of the laziest companies out there and Flash has one of the worst security records going.

waaah!! flash is causing my PC to lag during my my month long WoW sessions lol. don't like it then stay off the net

[citation][nom]alexkitch[/nom]As much as I'm not a huge fan of Apple / Steve Jobs, he is right.Adobe ARE lazy (64-bit flash, anyone?), and Google ARE evil (very shady privacy policies and anticompetitive behaviour)[/citation]
maybe you lived in a dungeon the last year but, you might use google to search for Adobe CS5 suite... you`ll be surprised that all the suite will be 64 bit, or you`re one of those guys who wants things instantly but in the same time you want them to work as good as a program who was kept in development and tested for years no ?

Adobe PhotoShop and Illustrator is what kept the Mac as the creative suite and Mac as the platform of choice in the early days of Mac vs. PC for the graphic designer and Professional Photographer. For Steve Jobs to be dissing Adobe is like the auto industry dissing the Middle East, or Exxon Mobile. Steveo is acting as dumb as a frat boy lighting his own farts on fire.

Anyone else find it hilarious that they call Adobe lazy and yet how long do it take for the IPhone to be able to copy and paste?

Yes, Flash is buggy and it's developers are lazy. Very valid point, but come on, that's not the reason you don't support it. As another member pointed out, Apple does not want any accessing their "world" unless they condone it (I could argue that, but I digress). Allow support for Flash, to Apple, would be allowing developers access to Apple. As you know, that is a no-no.

Besides, did Flash cause the yellow crash that were happening on Macs recently....

considering a recent psychological study has compared Iphone users who defend's the device's lack of features as people who are suffereing from Stockholm syndrom, along with the fact I am a proud owner of an Android phone, I'd say I'm confident I made the right choice. Go Google!

Tom's would be a good site if it weren't for all of the Apple bitching. I know I shouldn't read retarded comments, but I can't help myself. It's too easy for a laugh and also makes me sad that some people can be so hypocritical, blind, and clueless. I hate fanboys. I could probably tolerate fangirls though.

As far as Adobe, just as guilty as any other company. Think Microsoft with Vista, Sony with Blu-ray, and yes Mac with how many updates to OSx. All capable to do better, but don't/didn't. Now Google, is no more evil than the banks, insurance companies, or even Mac. The iPhone will only be remembered like the walkman, the product to start a trend. As long as they are exclusive to AT&T and AT&T keeps failing their customers, the iPhone will be a memory!

[citation][nom]shadow187[/nom]64-bit flash works fine on my computer.[/citation]
64 bit been out what 5 years now and adobe 64 bit flash was recently released to beta? give me a break. Jobs is 100% correct about adobe and google

[citation][nom]Boxa786[/nom]Stupid no edit button!I meant to say"Google will wipe the floor with this guy"[/citation]

Actually there is a way to edit comments, but as far as I can tell, only for articles in Tom's Hardware (and this one is), not on Tom's Guide articles.

Go to "Forums", click the "My Threads" button. If you can't see the article you want in the list that just opened, select the category in which the article is supposed to be (in this case, "News"). Once you found the correct article, enter it, and you will see all the comments posted. Find your comment - on the bottom right of it there should be three buttons, the first two are "Edit" and "Quick Edit". "Edit" also allows you to delete your comment - just select the "Delete This Reply" checkbox and hit "Submit".

You ALL laughed when I said his 'miracle' cure turned him evil.
Ever since he got better he's been turning Apple to the darkside, now we know he sold his soul to the Devil

Flash is not that great, but you need it now for a complete web experience.
Job just need to learn from ms to open up the the os for developers so they can write a good software for you.
Flash suck so much on mac because you would help or let adobe to your os source code for them to write a better for flash for mac.
HTML5 is a long way from now.

He definitely has something to worry about, I would much rather have a Droid than an iPhone and I like Apple products as I am in the media business. But the Droid is on a better network(verizon) and is on a more open OS. Mr. Jobs is scared and he isn't hiding it very well.

I'm sure at some point the world will move to vehicles that can move near the speed of light, but you don't see people making cars without engines in preparation for that now do you?

yes steve,
adobe is lazy, flash is buggy, i had to reinstall firefox and flash multiple times to run my chess app, google is the mark of the beast, and yet i still can't find it in me to run a mac.

flash hasn't crashed my pc in months. until HTML 5 becomes the major provider of internet video, the Ipad should support flash and a company so closed in every piece of hardware and software does not have the position to call another company evil. I like many Apple products but they constantly overprice and underfeature almost all of their products. The Ipod TOuch may be their only product that isn't overpriced but even then the Zune HD has an OLED screen and HD Radio for the same price. Just because they have a more abundant app store doesn't mean it should be priced the same. It should be cheaper along with the rest of their products.

Seems like Steve is starting to get scared.
Macs are no longer the creative media powerhouses they used to be. PCs are just a adept at using creative media software, and dominate the game market.
iPhone has the Android knocking on its back door...Loudly.
iPods vs Zune + 100 other music players is anyones guess.
Still to early to tell with the iPad, but seeing as they offer nothing new and inovative. I don't see them taking off.
