Hi Guys,

Over the last week I've been struggling with an issue where my screen will display random square static like boxes after logging in to windows. It only seems to happen once at log on and then won't happen again until rebooting the PC, I haven't noticed anything while gaming or watching youtube etc... This only ever happens on my main monitor

I caught a video of it on my phone camera, it's not the greatest quality but you can get the idea: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ys8QrxUPiqVBkqbwnOKVvIcXfr5JK-tY/view?usp=drive_link

Specs:
12900ks
Maximus Z690 Hero
RTX 4090
Corsair HX1500i

Monitor is an MSI MPG321UR-QD

I've tried everything from DDUing drivers multiple times, using different port and cable combinations, rolling back drivers. So far nothing seems to have helped. Connecting my monitor via HDMI instead of DP does seem to make the issue go away however, but this isn't really a practical solution for me.

Any help is appreciated :)

video not very long, hard to work out what I am meant to look for. Its so fast I can't tell.
I see something flash up over the icons for a split second, maybe the widgets panel.

does it happen in safe mode?

search for powershell - run as admin by selecting option in the search window

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/what-is-dism?view=windows-11

might not help but worth a try. the popup I saw could be windows. If its not problem you are having, I really can't see it (4 second video makes it hard)

Thanks for the reply, I've got a still image of it if that makes it any clearer (sorry the quality is bad, I had to get it with my phone because it doesn't show up in screen recordings): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CKSAy5rQ2TLGtwEN2XAUkNHSdTJkzr6x/view?usp=sharing

It is definitely some kind of problem rather than something in windows as like I said, it doesn't show up on screen recordings.

Unfortunately I've already tried an sfc and DISM repair, both have found no issues with my install.
I also tried another GPU in my system yesterday and the issue still exists, so I guess that rules the actual GPU out. This makes me worried that it is probably my monitor, but I want to be sure before starting to RMA it.

Thanks :)
