Hey,
I'm running the Tyan S2466N-4M Dual Athlon MP board (though currently
with only one processor). Recently, my system started locking up with
blue screens in Windows (varying messages including registry/file
system/irq/driver corruption/etc), or else would just do a hard crash.
When I started experiencing problems with Knoppix, bootable Linux, I
ruled out my main OS or hard disks as problems. I ran memtest and got
errors after a couple test cycles, but I replaced my memory and still
no improvement. The problems have gotten gradually worse over the past
couple weeks in terms of frequency.
As far as I can figure out, it's either the mobo or the CPU...I think
signs point to the mobo (possibly the NorthBridge?), but I don't have
a spare CPU to swap test it and be sure.
Any ideas how I might nail the problem down with certainty as to which
piece of hardware is damaged? Or anybody had similar experiences?
Help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave
