Updated rig with GPU block and some new tubing

If you're wondering why you see a 1155 GPU block on my GPU it's because I got it for 8 bucks and with some multipurpose zip ties I was able to attach it to the card. In doing so I discovered partly why the old GPU heatsink and fan setup performed so poorly, EVGA had tons of thermal paste on there. There were large clumps coming out all sides where the heatsink meet the GPU.

I haven't been able to get a fan controller yet, hopefully soon though. I prefer automatic fan control over manual adjustment so I will probably go with one of those NZXT touch screen ones.

Let me know you thoughts about the new setup.

Close enough hehe
I like the Gpu block mod, very ghetto but cool

Now tidy those gorram cables up!!
This might help with your fanwires but the internal case wiring needs attention too, flip hard drives at least

You know I hate seeing wires Grrr :p
and maybe a couple of zipties on the tubing as it enters the case, just to keep it from kinking and reducing your flowrate :)

Ok so here is my final revision. The fans weren't completed last time because I was up till 2am working on it and I had to be at work at 7am.

As usual I deleted my last post with pictures to keep the thread clean of excess pictures.

Yay! The only thing I'll do differently next time is plan better so my next machine can look as good or better the first time I assemble it.

And thanks Moto for the suggestions and the nagging, I'm definitely more satisfied (with my rig) now then I was prior to the several cable management sessions!

I don't know about you guys but the external rads are just ugly as ****. The pc just look like jetpack  . I would get a thin rad with high fpi and get the fans blowing at maximum. I'd have my ears tortured rather than my eyes :kaola:

Have both with a little (Ok, a lot of) effort :p
@Leo, you have to remember beauty is in the eye of the builder here, more so than the beholder
Mines a Deathstar more than a jetpack but damn does it perform,
and I think it looks awesome, you probably wouldn't,

The chiller box module is to the left of my monitor and is on hold awating another pump but theres two more big black ducts to and from that as well normally

Nevermind the looks though, a 975be hitting 4.6GHz on 1.55v idling at 37'c ?

@ Mlcaouette - I understand your reasoning behind the clean thread idea, but how will our readers understand the shift in before and after :) ? you can post a maximum of 10pics per post. so go ahead and include the before "Modo adjustment" pics :D

+1 to Modo's point! IMO - You can make a rad externally mounted, look aesthetically pleasing provided you've planned things out. Just about everyone here has done it. I'm yet to show for my efforts due to my bummed out delivery/shipping methods but if you(the readers) venture into my build logs you'll know what I'm talking about.

:)

You can do external mounts differently, it's just a matter of preference. It isn't always possible to cram pump, res and rads along with all the tubing into every case. I wouldn't sacrifice radiator space over cooling performance just to ensure everything fits out of sight and to say you had watercooling if it wasn't going to perform like it should.

Damn right, results first, pretty later.
just make sure you do get round to making the pretty part happen though :)
I'd much rather have a performing loop than a pretty one, but why not have a good loop that also looks good?

Well I have certainly done that on my builds, built first and tried to clean them up after I have seen how they perform. It is a lot of work to make a case look nice with a water loop running through it, not to mention that I have a tendency to over think the process and get caught up on the little things as I go along. I have now almost finished reassembling the new 3 loop system that I have been working on. I will have picks up soon and yes I have cleaned it up a lot, but I know that there is still more that I could do to make it look better.

thas the fun part, its the tinkering that gets the nerves stimulated. Though thas how I feel as a designer :) something different, something new.

@ modo! - I just noticed this
