I'm really familiar with the Skynet bios(s) and they are far from perfect. I recommend anyone that's willing to modify bios to use KBT and modify the stock bios (after carefully saving the original of course).

 
Been randomly reading this thread for the last few hours and I'm with tiny voices, if for no other reason that power requirements/usage is probably one of the worst represented in terms of information.
There's at least 5 or 6 reasonably sensible ways to demonstrate power demands, which basically means that no data is ever terribly reliable or comparable to anything else. They often use "total system wattage" which is a really helpful metric, but also one which is entirely meaningless unless you use the system they use. Some measure power as a draw from the wall, which doesn't take into account the efficiency of a power supply (and is kinda open to outside factors), and a lot use overclocked processors without providing any info about the overclock.
Add in that manufacturers inflate their own power requirements, as do benchmarks, and you have an awful lot of misinformation (or at least poorly represented information).

Thing is, if you've burnt what...$1500+ on graphics, what's another couple of hundred to see if it's something you can work around? I'm not really in a position to judge on that one, if I'm honest.

As a side note, I'm a big Superflower fan, so by extension a sometime Rosewill/EVGA etc fan. I used a Golden Green in a build a while ago and if I was doing a super high end build a Leadex/Leadex Platinum would definitely be at the top of my shortlist for a PSU. They are pretty expensive, but (at least in the UK) quite a lot cheaper than the Seasonic X series or Antec HCP Platinum models. Plus they come in a choice of two colours and light up, so that's nice....I guess....
 
I wonder if the power system on the video card is shutting you down?

Would be interesting if you could get a power utilization monitor to see how much you are drawing at the wall. Would put and end to the how much power(system) once and for all. You would be able to compare stock and add clock speeds and see how things change.
 
After talking to some people over at evga forums who run the classifieds with the similar oc or higher but under water are saying its possible to pull over 450w on single card if its volt modded and using evbot and the card is under water so idunno Im reading it can some places and it cant others. I did come across another person having the same issue and when he went up to the ax1200i from corsair his problems stopped and he was running the hx850 also. We shall see once it rolls in and I get it installed.
 
i mean on the kingpin i can understand it not doubt especially given it has 3 8 pin power connectors vs my 2. But my systems fit the bill of not enough power. I get freezes and shutdowns which from my searching are 2 big indicators and my temps are not going anywhere near even 80c on the gpu and barely getting over 50c on the cpu.
 
Maybe your current PSU is failing, how's the +12v rail looking?


UGH, I've reseated the heatsink on this GTX 760 five times now and still can't get the temps lower. I don't think the heatsink is tight enough to the card, the TIM hardly spreads. The screws are bottomed out so further measures would require modification.
 
Gentle reduction in the standoff(or whatever you call the female threaded sections under the cooler) height :)

Strange that they would leave too much room, but they(video card makers in general) always tend to use lots of paste on cards.

Sometimes they don't fit in the small cases. I built a spare pc in an antec (XE-1? not sure exact name) and the side panel wouldn't even close with a H80 in it. granted that was an exceptionally poorly built case.
 

Plus you'd have to mod the case or the cooler to make that work. Oh yeah, not the cooler. Lose warranty and it's gone
 

whoops misread that. I thought it said rad on the outside. My bad.
Chem. Professor hooked up a 90 mm fan to a 9 volt battery. Was running so slow. He cut of the molex(molex is 2 wires right??) and spliced(if that's the right word) a 9 volt battery adapter to the wires.
 

Yeah. I'm just surprised that you could hook it up to a battery. Then you think that both use volts, one just has less voltage, the battery.
 
Mira, I found a fix for the corsair h100 led changing colors when it's not supposed to. This is exactly what Corsair told me to do, and it worked. Hope it helps with your system as well:

Please try the BETA version of our Link software and follow the instructions below:

- Uninstall the Corsair Link software through Windows Control Panel
- Go to file explorer, enable "Show hidden files, folder and drives"
- Delete the following directory: C:\Users\"System name"\AppData\Roaming\Corsair
- Restart your system
- Install the new Corsair Link software
