That's why I was so confused, and it never even came out of the socket... After removing it, and seeing that I didn't put enough thermal paste, pushing in all the plugs, it POSTed.... Three heart attacks later
It's very hard to kill a CPU without either using way too much voltage, way too much heat or physically damaging it during installation.
Yeah... I did find dust inside the socket, and tried to blow that out... ended up choking a few times, so much dust...
But I need to redo the thermal paste... My temps may jumped up some while gaming. I don't know my averages on DiRT...
I did take out the PCI bracket on the back of the case and my GPU does run cooler.
How would there be dust INSIDE the socket? Nothing should be able to get into the socket unless the CPU has been removed and the motherboard has been left exposed for some length of time.

I have no clue... but there was some lint/dust in there...
Then it must have been there BEFORE the CPU was ever installed in the first place. There is no other way it could be in there unless your case was sitting outside during an Arizona sized dust storm.

Lived in Flagstaff for four years... No dust storms and the computer was inside 😛
I give up on trying to upgrade this thing...
Yeah, Flagstaff is high desert, lots of trees and not much in the way of sandstorms although I have seen them rage all around Flagstaff though. Don't give up, try harder. Giving up is for weaklings. I don't think you want to be one of those.

I've been to Flagstaff! Arizona is an awesome place - very peaceful compared to heavy cities. I like the open desert.
Like I said, the third rebuild fixed it... I have no idea what was wrong... Part of my wishes It stayed beeping to get a new rig but I doubt that I would get it anytime soon, seeing as the fence in our backyard has a lot of gaps and is rotting away, and the water heater in the garage is leaking...
Nope. I was thinking more like Iceman, Rush or The Natural. (Liddel, St. Pierre or Couture, just in case you don't follow MMA.)
I don't do sports much... used to be a huge basketball junkie when I was little....
Looking up the value of our house in the current market... 1414 sq ft, bought for 270k... Now it's worth 330-350k from several websites... One said 365 for some reason... hmm I thought having TWC lowers the price?
It seems like every so often, starting yesterday, when I turn on my PC, I'll get no video signal. So if I turn it off by holding the power button, then turn it on, it'll work. It happens randomly, maybe 1 in 4 times now. I know when it happens the OS is not booted to either because if I push the power button it would shut down after about 10 seconds if I did. But it doesn't shut down anyway unless i hold it down. Strange.
So I have been trying to figure out what monitor I want, and I'm looking to spend something I would say minimum $400, maximum $600. I'm not buying one of those ridiculously overpriced Asus ROG monitors because I don't have that kind of money to spend. That ain't happening. But I am thinking 1440P might be the way to go. I found this monitor on Amazon for $349:
I would love to go 4K but I'm wondering if I would need to upgrade or SLI my 970 in order to get the most out of it. The price on that 4K Acer is very tempting to say the least.
