Yeah, sorry guys. My GF and I bought a house and we are in the process of paint/construction so I've been super busy and not around. My bad 🙁

I have about 1 hour of flying under my belt and a bit of ground school, but I just don't have the money nor does my family. I plan to work at a 7/11 or some gas station so I can get money.

Nice! What car are you looking at? And congrats on the house.

So it's a TN then? I should be getting an IPS right? I mean if I am going to drop over $400 on a monitor I want to make sure it's the right monitor at the right price.

The 1ms response is the give away.

IPS, TN and VA all have advantages and disadvantages.

TN's biggest one is the colors shift. This may lead to part of its bad color rep. The top and bottom of the screen will not look the same. This is more of an issue as the screens get larger. TN are very fast(but still require overdrive to get these 1ms times[and are not always at 1ms]).

IPS's biggest drawback is glow. Dark images can be almost wiped out from glow. Some are worse and some are better. IPS have the widest viewing angles with less color change than VA and much less than TN

VA's drawback is speed. The are very slow and require overdrive to get faster speeds. They do have the best contrast(and deeper blacks) thanks to an ability to block out the backlight better than any other backlit screens we currently have.

Almost[added this since some do have no overdrive at all] all* modern screens use some overdrive to make the pixels change faster. Using too much leads to what is called overshoot. It can lead to a inverted ghost image. I would rather then fine tune to avoid this(I would personally rather 2-4ms response if they could have nearly no overdrive). Despite TN panels being faster, overdrive is still used and sometimes too much of it is used on gaming screens.

Check out TFT central reviews for images of overdrive artifacts(overshoot)

My monitor preference still is with VA, but overshoot can be pretty bad one some of them. Daster ones are far and few between since IPS became the goto for everything[I am not quite sure why. They are good, but still not perfect].

Didn't you own the same Samsung S32D850T that I have at one point nukemaster? It's got an AU Optronics AMVA+ panel and I love it. I use my desktop for gaming about 90% of the time and even though it's not a 'gaming' monitor it does just fine. Colors, black levels and viewing angles are all as good as any monitor I've ever used.

I had the BenQ version yes.

The speed and overshoot kind of turned me off for a 600 dollar before tax screen. I am not sure what caused it, but it also had some flickering for some reason(noticeable in some games).

Do not get me wrong, It had a very nice looking screen thanks to good color and deeper blacks.

The overdrive had more overshoot than my 8 year old SPVA screen on some transitions. This seems to be more common on many screens now. I can not call it a bad screen on the overdrive alone because everyone is pushing it pretty hard now to get those lower(faster) response times.

That's right, same panel just a slightly different implementation and software set I believe. I get no noticeable flicker or ghosting at all and as I said I use the desktop for gaming primarily. Maybe that's attributable to the slight differences in the BenQ and Samsung software?

Yeah that's funny because after looking at tons of monitors the only VA panel I could find was that BenQ model and if I am going to drop $500+ on a monitor, I definitely want to make sure I get the right one, which is why I'm doing so much research.

Just slight differences in the scaler firmware go a long way. I am guessing Samsung was a bit more careful.

Even with the second highest overdrive setting the panel is still slow in some places.

As far as ghosting, I think all people are so different it is hard to say what any user will see. Sample and hold alone adds motion blur(or so some people see).

I was lookin at ultra wide 3440x1440's then thought about a 4k but i def have to have some bigger than 27 inch. Ive been playing on a nice 40 inch led tv and really like larger sized screens. I wanted the asus 3440x1440p gsync 100hz panel but $1,200 is hard to swallow especially when im only rocking 780ti's and will be needing that new 1080ti

Decided to come on here and wow....silent for over a week. Our prime here as ended haha....kinda sad actually. I would be on here ever since I lived in Abu Dhabi and ive been back in the US for over two years...crazy. Remember when I was there guys? The days of me picking PC parts....yeah, Ive lived in a different country for 2 years now....oh my birthday is in less than a month :) 17!!!

@Tiny Congrats on the house! How ya been bud?

Hey its cause no one talks to me 🙁 haha! Lets start it up again. I'm kicking around the idea of water cooling once i pick up my 1080ti's when they hit. Was looking at a ekwb predator 360 box kit. Its a custom loop that comes with everything i need to put a loop together except the liquid and i think the additives.
