Just helped my sister with a upgrade. I gave her my H440, my Corsair TX750, and the GTX 770. Saturday we're going to go shopping for a new CPU, motherboard, prolly memory, and a cheap 120gb ssd.

I think the i5 3450 on her dell computer can work with the 770, but that Dell motherboard worries me. I wonder if that system will be fine till Saturday lol.

I think she's set on the

FX 6300 : 109.99$
ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 : 84.99$
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series : 79.99$ Or she can reuse her current memory from the Dell computer.
and the Samsung 840 evo 120gb SSD: 79.99$

Yeah if it's indeed the motherboard and CPU in my rig I'll get the i5-4690K and MSI Gaming 5 but that's about the extent of what I plan to spend.

Wow! How come you guys get all the good stuff 🙁

40$ more and she can get the 8320 instead. I'm not sure if the 8320 verse the 6300 will make a difference, being that the 8320 has 2 more cores.

I dunno, I think the ability to score deals is genetically encoded in our DNA. Or as Jerry Seinfeld puts it: "Maybe cheapness is a sense."

Should I go for the monitor? Not IPS but 70$ less than the other one and the savings are greatly needed for a keyboard upgrade. Should still be a large upgrade from my dell 1050p monitor, anyhow

What does everyone think about this? It's 275 at checkout for 1440p

Well my spending didn't end at the FX chip. Danny and I were browsing Best Buy and we went home with a 55" LG 1080p LED TV for $500 after tax.

The refresh rate is low @ 60Hz but the picture is crisp. We watched a couple action flicks and put on a Blu-ray and the refresh rate doesn't seem to cause any problems. I guess it has some sort of feature that tries to upscale it to 120hz but native is 60Hz. Either way, we like it a lot so far. Although now I have to update my stereo receiver as it doesn't have a digital audio input 🙁

I've had it for about 13 years, lol.

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like this receiver DOES have a Digital Audio Optical input. I just don't have a cable for it. I guess back to the store!!

They were selling 55 Inches from Westinghouse for around 300-400 at Target and they had a 30"(Perfect for the master) for 100 FROM VIZIO. My dad went to Sams Club and came back with a 50" Plasma from Samsung. Price, 258 USD. Why, Open box, returned after an hour due to not liking the TV. Still works like a charm.

Ordering soon! A razer deathadder (probably) or a corsair m65 (ONLY 39.99 ON AMAZON!), the monitor from bestbuy and tommorow a new keyboard. Decided to wait for Christmas to get new cans.

Guys I need help ASAP. I just remembered my brothers pcie clip lock thing on his and AMD motherboard broke....he has one gigabyte 270x tri cooler ... Is it important can I just tighten the two knobs so it stays up or what? He has a second slot but will it work as fast and how do I explain why the first clip broke cause I did it by mistake...got used to my Intel mobo...so can't I just use it but tighten it?

99% of the time the card will have no issues with that part missing. Some boards have locks you manually slide and I have seen systems without them even slid into the locked position without issues.

You may have to check on it if you have moved the computer or it is subjected to vibrations.

Be more careful in the future :)

Generally yeah, you have to keep an eye on Best Buy though, I go in there at least once a month to check the PC parts because they've been known to put things on clearance making it cheaper than anywhere online.

Man I can't believe how awesome this TV is for $500. The picture is incredible, I was watching football last night and the 60Hz didn't rear it's ugly head at all. Everything was perfectly smooth and clear. I also went back and picked up a digital audio optical cable so now my surround is working again. Although my next upgrade will be a network A/V receiver and some new speakers.
