LOL the latest in cutting edge tech guarded by a whittled piece of wood... hell i'd do it! 😉

I have a g3258 in my office PC with a Gigabyte H81m-H at 4ghz on the stock cooler with no voltage. I'm pretty sure all G3258's are "golden chips". Got both at microcenter. $50 for the chip and $31 for the board open box also with no I/O shield.

Tons of apps like that are. I use ArcGIS everyday at my job. It is the most widely used geospatial processing tool used by hundreds of millions of companies, and it is single threaded. It is also only 32bit. My 4ghz g3258 has faster tool processing times than the 4930k in one of my coworker's PCs.

Yeah I had that same problem, must be a commonality with those low end motherboards. I'd love to get an ultra high end motherboard for my next one, I'm looking at either the Asus Maximus or the MSI MPower.

I agree. Like the Asus Maximus Hero boards are really good, but they have like a $300 price point, which to me is just too much. I'm looking in the $150 field currently. Any suggestions? Z97 $150ish?

That is a very good deal, but the blue would not go well. I decided with the Gigabyte Z97-UD3H-BK. Blackbird says they're tested for a lot of durability.

Also, does anyone's graphics card bend or sag like mine? I read it can be normal. Mine bends a bit.

I'm going to stick with Z97 for a couple of years before I decide to upgrade to the next platform, though I want to get my system ready for Oculus and 4K in the mean time, I will be buying a 4K monitor within the next few months.

Oculus probably won't be, I'm guessing that's going to be more in the $500 - $600 range. The HTC VR set is probably going to be the more affordable option.

The question I have though is I'm debating whether or not to sell my 970 and buy a 980TI, or SLI my 970. SLI'ing my 970 would definitely be the more affordable option but a 980TI is a 980TI.

And the frustration begins once more...

I now have replaced the entirety of my old PC. No post/boot 😡

- G3258
-Z97 Extrene 3
-XFX PRO 550W
- 8GB 2400Mhz ram
- CM 212+ (re use)

Did everything in the no post/boot guide at least three times. If anyone could take a wild guess and had been a similar situation, what would you think is the problem? Can also post pics if it would help.

Also I have no case atm. Tried jumping the two power pins with a screw driver but nothing happens.

Yeah I'm trying to pay down some of my credit cards so spending $600 on a GPU probably would not be a wise decision right now. SLI'ing my 970 seems like it would be the better way to go. I am thinking of getting another MSI TwinFROZR for my Dark Knight rig and making that my Oculus rig.

Yes, the G3258 has integrated graphics (Intel HD).

I tried using my 9800GTX+ though it's pointless since the system won't start. I replaced the CPU, motherboard, PSU, and ram. My old parts were an i5 2500k, Z68 mobo, Enermax Naxn 550W PSU, and G.Skill Ares 2133Mhz ram.

Right now I am assembling the old system to test with the new ram.
