I ran stress tests like prime95, Intel burn test, Aida64, the voltage still remained in that same range. Speed step is disabled along with the other power saving options so that shouldn't be a problem any way:

I think my issue is different since I can at least get into windows with a minor overclock, but it is unstable (still testing). The latest BIOS claims to have updated the micro code but it did not specify the processor.

Saw a friend in his 3 series convertible from 2000-2003(if I am correct)

Now to drool over this 200 rig that has a 3770 in it...


So, my plan this weekend is, if I get some thermal paste and isopropyl alcohol, is to A), see if the spread of my thermal paste was bad and B) clean it all off and take a decent amount of care, and clean my heatsink some as well, it's really dusty... Also is the CPU cover/holder on of the sides...
 
All of the M5s are going to cost between 2-5k a YEAR to run. Remember these were 100k cars in 2003.

The black 01 likely needs about 10k worth of work at that mileage, which is why it has been for sale for 2 months.

The 00 needs the 100k service which is usually between 18-20k and requires complete removal of the engine and transmission from the car. This is why it has been for sale so long too.

The supercharged 02 looks decent, but will require someone who is WELL versed in working on cars and E39s to properly maintain it. That would be about the worst car someone who is not able to wrench on cars could possibly buy.

That 530i is poop. 180k on a transmission known to only last 150k.

Any of those is a terrible buy and an awful car to own.

E39 M5s are VERY desirable cars to own so if one has been for sale for more than a week or so, you know its junk as many enthusiasts will already have looked at it and passed on it.

Also, no one sells an E39 M5 because they "don't have the space" or "don't drive it very much". They sell it because it is in need of repair and is a money pit and they want out.

To put this into perspective, a properly maintained E39 M5 with all BMW service records and about 80-120k on the clock with the 100k service done, will EASILY sell for 30 grand in 8 hours. Also, no one sells a good E39 M5 on craigslist. They all sell on the BimmerForums. Only the rejects and lemons end up on craigslist. It's like if you were going to buy a Toyota Supra. Like these M5's they have a HUGE fanbase and cult following. You would therefore expect any halfway decent model to be held in high regard by an enthusiast and only really sold to another enthusiast. No one would ever sell a 100% solid and good Supra on Craigslist unless they could not get rid of it to the Supra community. That's the same deal with these M5s.
 



I have two old AMD Phenom II Black edition. Identical ASUS motherboards. both overclocked to the max at 1.41 V with big coolers.
One is running at 4Ghz with the northbridge at 2.6Ghz (after a lot of optimization)
The other is at 3.45Ghz with the northbridge at 2.3Ghz It will not go any faster without BSOD

I also have a 3570k on a nice Z series motherboard which will not go beyond 4.1Ghz,
and a 4690k on a £40 H81 motherboard at 4.2Ghz and 1.1Volts on the stock cooler

With some CPU you are lucky, with some you are not
 
my lapped 2500k will do 4.1ghz on 1.16v stock voltage with all the power savings off. but i need 1.35v to get 4.5ghz. its a funky voltage scaling but thats what my chip wants. 1.30v@4.4ghz, 1.25v@4.3ghz, 1.20v@4.2ghz, etc. i cant go any further though with my hyper 212 plus. 68f ambient i hit 72c@1.35v in prime 26.6. that gives me wiggle room for 100f outdoor days when ambients can go as high as 80c in my home(though i would just not run h265 handbrake conversions on those few days). computronix told me i was at my limit and that 1.40v isn't worth 4-5c higher temps for just 0.1ghz.
 
Does anyone know whether the E8400 has a thermal output more than the E5300?? I can't get a new CPU cooler since the mounting screws are off on this mobo... the TDP was the same..

Device manager NOW realized I put in a new CPU.... I need to back up and reinstall windows so bad

Although my 800 RAM is now acting like 400 RAM...
 
Yeah, I might sell the i5. Someone already offered me $180 for it, but I bet I can get $200. I'm thinking this could be a top 100 ever 3570k and I want it to go to someone who will LN2 it and see what happens.

It currently isn't lapped or delidded.
 


If you don't have a Z97 motherboard, the 6600K is cheaper than that for around something like $240, maybe less if you have access to a Micro Center.
 


I tried doing that on eBay with a 3450 and a 3570K, the 3450 sold for $170, and I had no takers for the 3570K mainly because there were like hundreds of other listings for the same CPU. So that's when I wound up turning it into the Raven which is now my very awesome HTPC.

On another note, Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones just premiered on Netflix, definitely binge watching that next week since I won't have much else to do after studying for finals. Woohoo!
