Thanks. Do you have any statistics or reviews to back up your claim?

Honestly none are needed. It is well known that that PSU is crap and a danger. I mean look at it. It claims to be a 635w PSU but only makes 536w on the 12v rail. It is OEM'd by Andyson (junk).

It is crap. Newegg reviews never mean anything at all.

This isn't the exact model psu, but your selection is in the same Raidmax RX family. The two year warranty is a great clue.

This is an older list then Tom's, but all Raidmax show up in Tier 5 here as a rule; actually dangerous.

They used to be in this list as Tier 5;

And this is worth watching:

Stick with a Tier 1 or 2 unit.

Hope this helps.

Raidmax is one of the companies that are so bad, their units have damaged expensive testing equipment. When you see a company that has very little reviews, that is a large giveaway as to how poor their Power Supplies are.

You'll notice that out of a dozen power supply reviewers, the only one brave enough to test it was HardOCP. They tested 2 units, both produced by the OEM Andyson, one of them passed, the other failed. Both of them had shit build quality.

Alright, thanks guys. That Raidmax PSU right now is hooked up to a Z97 mobo and a I5 4690k. No overclocks on it, no discrete gpu, and it hasn't been on a heavy load. Been fine for 10 months. It's my dads rig, I'll force him to buy a new psu asap(even though he wont listen to me probably). Cheers.

Hey guys, it's me again, still haven't bought the PSU (waiting for this month paycheck 😛). I previously said I couldn't get an EVGA PSU on my country, but I found one: EVGA G1 750W 80+ Gold. Which unit is better, that EVGA or the Seasonic S12G 750W 80+ Gold I was planning on buying?

EDIT: Found another EVGA (I don't know what's going on with finding all the EVGAs today, lol), so the options are:

EVGA G1 750W 80+ Gold
EVGA B2 850W 80+ Bronze
Seasonig S12G 80+ Gold

They're in ascending price order.

Tyvm for your time!

If I was in your position I might go with the g1 series because of the gold rating and the fact that the quality and sexiness of the g2 series made me just about cream my pants, but I can't talk about the g1 series from experience. List prices in your area, because if the seasonic is 5% more id say go with that but if its 50% more thats a different story.

PS Drunk while im writing this so excuse any mistakes

Hilarious PS, LoL!

Yeah, sorry, my bad I didn't add prices to the list. Anyways here it is updated:

EVGA G1 750W 80+ Gold: 112€
EVGA B2 850W 80+ Bronze: 125€
Seasonig S12G 80+ Gold: 129€

Actually, price is not much of a concern, if I'm gonna spend 1300€ on a good PC, well forget that 10€ saving, I'll just take the best of these 3. Also, I thought the Seasonic was 80+ Gold, too (just like the G1). At least it says so on the shop's web.

I think the contest is between G1 and S12G, the B2 is in that price range proly because of the extra 100W (which I don't need since 750W will suffice), but then again I'm no authority on PSU.

Thanks for your time and keep enjoying the drinks! 😉

I dont have any experiences with the EVGA units, I can only say I hear they are excellent. The Seasonic S12G units on the other hand I can speak highly of as I have 6 of them, two of which are in gaming rigs and perform well.

I've decided to stick with the S12G, since the B2 really has too much wattage for me, and it's 80+ Bronze. I prefer a little bit less wattage and a Gold certificate.

Thank you again, guys, you're the best!

Good choice; a tier 2 psu so it should handle a good amount of ocing (if your going air cooled, temps will be a more limiting factor than your psu).

Just looking right now for a PSU.

I wondered where the Straight Power E8 would come on the list. (Recommended in a TH PSU round-up.) http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-psu-efficiency,2796-4.html

At the moment I am looking at Seasonic. Any of them really. I don't over-clock.

Have to say though I think I must have got lucky when I bought my current Corsair CX430. It is practically silent and only makes an air whoosh sound under load, and even then it is 100% inoffensive. What's more remarkable is my GPU min PSU is 450W. However overall I am only pulling about 360W absolute peak, so perfectly safe. The surprise though is that it seems to be made of granite. Given all the flack this range gets, you'd think it would have expired.

Anyway I think I will buy something around 600W in Seasonic. It's my goal to relieve my (much beloved) 430W. I just hope my next PSU is as quiet.

Nice to hear it. I am running an Asus GTX 970 from it.

Someone will no-doubt not like it, and someone will have had one that's failed.

Anyway I am still here nearly two hours later, and got to nearly finally pinning down a purchase. Always takes me this long from starting to google 'best PSU (or whatever I am looking for)'.

Edit: Just found this Tier List. http://i.imgur.com/tgrbCnr.jpg

That tier list doesn't include the EVGA G2/GS series, which seem to be absolutely cleaning up in the reviews. I'm not sure it's been updated recently, and being an image means you can't search.

Everyone seems to have their own tier list, and sometimes they differ.

I don't think there's much of a benefit in only recommending PSUs you've owned. Unless you've pulled it apart, you're falling prey to both the reviewer problem mentioned above, and sample size of one issues.
