Hehe... at least I reconfirmed that my R9 290's watercooling is good enough that I can't hear whether it's under load. 😀

Liquid cooling the 290 seems like a good call! Before my, uh..nontraditional cooling solution..was applied, I wasn't sure which were going to explode first - my ear drums or the GPU fans.

New editor of TH, John Burek, here.

It looks, alas, like we are getting thrashed at the moment by Team AT. (And this with our 11-GPU mining rig that I had our mother company's lab fire up on behalf of Team TH to try and close up the gap.)

Well I moved from michigan where it was cool enough to fold to SoCal. Electric prices way to high for folding and wife wonders why house is up to 80F. 🙂

Oh my gawd, you're cheating John! 😀 Actually there was no mention of not using company property this time around, initially. Ah well, we at AnandTech don't care (too much), in fact, I'm here to point out some things to get your ppd up on that mining rig....

In my personal tests, anything less than a 4x PCIe v2.0 slot, and your points plummet in a hurry. Also, you need one thread/core per GPU.

And a passkey, you got a passkey?

I'm guessing those cards are all 1x, and you have one, maybe two MB's under all that goodness with a dual core CPU(s). 🙁

So I have a little 980ti running atm but the ppd seem low compared to last time round.

Is it just core 21 wu's or do I need any flags?

ATM is only producing around 400k :/

my 1070 goes between 550,00o to 650,000 on some of the new work units.

cpu project 8659 TPF 2min 01sec ppd 25101
gpu project 9414 TPF 1min 43sec ppd 279552
gpu project 11713 TPF 2min 42 sec ppd 535531

I seem to be averaging 750-800K/day
so you are about right

I have forgotten what to do to modify the slot configuration
you guys have any suggestions???

both cards running w/o OC ~1329/1652 @75-80C
GPU load~90-95%
70-75 TDP power

cpu temps in the 80-85C range; got up to 90 last night when I turned the room fan off by mistake

wife keeps wondering why the room is at 80F
so far she thinkin' its the bright sunlight 🙂

279k on a 980ti is pants, I'm getting that on my 970 @1400mhz.

Currently I have a 980ti on a 9415 (1576, 4, 274) for 465k and the 970 on a 9431 (1184, 2, 486) for 265k

CONFIGURE / SLOTS / PICK A GPU / EXTRA SLOT OPTIONS /ADD

Then in the top box type client-type

In the lower box type advanced or beta

I'm on advanced atm but not sure its making much difference.

Have you left a couple of cores free for your gpu's?

Mine gave up complaining years ago. or my hearing went selective ?????
I ran an extra ac vent in the office when we rebuilt,2 near her desk now, so summer temps will be better.
The slight hum of air movement seems so peaceful and relaxing.

Around 900k-1.2m on the 1080ti and 50-70k (in Windows, sometimes higher I think) on the Ryzen. My brother is steward of those so I don't have exact numbers.
