good day to all, im considering upgrading mu cooling system to liquid and two sets are available here(Philippines), thermaltake BigWater SE and Gigabyte Galaxy ll.
looking for feedbacks on performance, reliability and durability(long life). though Galaxy is a bit more expensive.

which would you recommend???
liquid cooling other than the two welcome for consideration... thank you

i would recommend asetek (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=57&sortby=nameAsc&subid=193&mfrid=71)
best performer, and you can buy individual parts, google is ur friend

i would say the gigabyte galaxy. i was about to get that but decided to get the tuniq tower 120 air cooler to save some $$$.

i have seen a lot of tests comparing cooling efficiency of different liquid system in asia. galaxy is far better than bigwater se~~

however, according to products reviews i have seen so far, water cooling with only one 12cm radiator is not much better than mid-class air cooling. therefore personelly i recommand to buy 2 additional 12cm rediators~~

by the way, i think air cooling is still the best in terms of price/performance ratio~~ 😀

Not sure about the other kit, but that BigWater SE has been surpassed by numerous air cooling setups... I have the BigWater 745 and it's ok... has a stronger pump and a 2nd radiator. God, I forget what it's called but there's some sort of new cooling device... it actually runs off of electricity (no, it's not just a fan) that I'd be looking at if I were in the market today for some cooling.

do you mean TEC cooling (Thermal Electrical Cooler)?

i do not think this technology is maturate enough to come to the market~~

YES! That's the acronym I was looking for... and I've already seen a review for it and I'm convinced. In fact I believe NewEgg had a device using that technology for slightly over $100.

ooh~~ i have seen this product before~~

i am not quite sure about its performance as i have not seen any testing about this product.

i do not study engineering in university and in fact i have not studied physics since my a-level in the uk. however, according to what i know, tec cooling is the same as air cooling by the energy conservation law. although it can reduce the cpu temperature under 0 degree, it can only last for a few minutes as the efficiency of heat release is the same as air cooling.

that is just my personal thought.

I use the Vigor Gaming TEC, and let me tell you. I absolutely love it. So does my E6400 (see sig). It keep my E6400 at about 50c under load at 3.7ghz.

Would a conventional fan be able to do what the guy above me just said? None that I know of can... that's a pretty amazing overclock at a temperature that isn't dangerous to the CPU. Unlike you, I dropped out of my physics class in college... just wasn't my thing. No matter... the review I read said PLENTY of good things about it and someone that read this post actually has one. I'm convinced!

i still think a good air cooling system like tuniq tower 120 would have a better performance over time at a much lower price although i can not find any practical evidence to support my view~~ :?

You must realize that with TEC you still need a way to cool the hot side right? Air cooling of a TEC is not that great (better off with just air cooling without the TEC) so the other option is water cooling a TEC. TEC has been around for quite some time, it's just now that you are seeing the "kit" for beginners.

To OP:
Out of those two choices the Galaxy is better.

Thats the job of the heat pipes, fins and fan. Trust me when I tell you this thing rocks anything out there. And is comparable to most mid grade water cooling setups, at half if not 1/3 of the price?

here is a Link to the Vigor.

Oh I should probably add I had a Thermalright Ultra 120 Prior to this, and my temps dropped about 12c when i switched to the Vigor.

Here are a couple pics of my system with the Ultra-120

That hose duct goes to anotehr 120mm Intake fan I mounted in my 3 top open bays.

Here are some pics of the Vigor in my setup.

Oh yah here is my max stable OC, temps were a tad high tho =/ (60-65c)

You're not too far from a 100% overclock... that's nuts man. Glad you pointed out what the duct work was for... I was just thinking "The hell is that thing go to?" when I read what you wrote.

How is the noise? The reviews I read said on medium settings that particular fan is louder than most other fans on high... that would be a turn-off especially coming from a water-cooled setup. I've kinda grown attached to the low humming sound my pump makes.

Well i have the p180b case, which as I'm sure you know is insulated to reduce noise. With my 5 120mm fans and that 90mm on the TEC. Its all very quiet. I think some may have got a defective fan, or they started putting in a quality fan when they heard the complaints.

Great, dropped temps by about 15c from stock. Check my sig for specs.

Edit...Forgot i changed my sig..Its OC'd to 690 / 1610

As several have stated, between the choices given the Galaxy gets the nod.

Now I saw someone mention TECs and the Vigor which is quite nice indeed.

If you're looking to eventually cool more than just the CPU with TEC or water then consider thisCoolIt Systems Unit which is in this review.

It comes ready to cool your CPU to unprecedented temps short of some extreme cost and cooling methods. It is a bit expensive for a CPU cooler yet you could always modify the unit yourself with more hoses/blocks to cool other components. It should have the cooling power to chill several components much lower than any "normal" water-cooled system.

I realize few are willing to pay that much but man that system gets me drooling :)

Sorry dude but my guess is that a TEC under my current water cooling is definitely going to out perform an air cooled TEC. That monstrosity is fugly but to each their own.

Im sure it will, but not by a whole lot. Do you even wanna compare prices? As far as ugly, I dont find a pc with more hoses and radiators in it than my car has more attractive.
