Anyway, yea, we're doing pretty well. Went out and looked at my status over the last few days last night before i left work...holy crap...My folds went down by like 65% over the last 4 days. Turns out my 3000+ and the dual zeon system +ht were both down. (my 3000+ i just got a new mobo for...so i'm in the act of resetting it up...and oc'ing it as far as possible (o,0). The xeon system, two of the units had hung up. 2 out of 3...i leave one of the ht units open. So basically 65% or more of my folding is done by 2 computers...Even though i have another zeon system on there as well as a p4+ht...and all the other comps. =/

O'tay.

Weirder and weirder. Sometimes F@H was getting through my ISA wirewall, and sometimes not. So I tried various things, and noticed that as a service it wouldn't go through, but from the console it would. So I made the service log on to my server using my network account instead of running as the local system. It seems to be working now. :O So I guess I was having a two anonymous problems. First the anony TCP connection was flat out blocked by my ISA firewall until recent changes made to allow Windows Update to run. But even then it wouldn't go all the way. The F@H application itself needed to be run with me as the user instead of as a system file to for my ISA firewall to allow it all the way. I wonder if the second non-anony would have fixed the first as well. Oh well. In any event, I can run F@H on my work PC now. :)

Actually, another interesting observation is that Intel's HT seems to really kick asterisk. My work PC is a P4B 2.26. My home PC is a P4C 2.6. They both have WinXP Pro, and both have 1GB of RAM. Switching between programs (or using right-click pop-up menus) stutters badly at work whenever F@H is running, even though it's on the lowest priority. But at home, even with two instances of F@H running (thanks to HT) I don't get any such stutters. I highly doubt that small difference in clockspeed is the reason. It's got to be HT.

My wife's AXP 2600+ laptop has always been the same way though. I just blamed it on it being a laptop. You know? **ROFL**

Well, now I'll just have to search for other PCs to test it on. :O I mean it'd be great if I could prove to myself that it's not HT because I'm really looking at AMD for my next system, but so far I'm a bit hesitant about the X2s.

For whatever its worth...(concerning the HT thing)...i'm running it on my 1.3 P4, and it doesn't ... stutter. It's slower then the p4 3.0 w/ht, or the xeon systems, or my home machines...but it doesn't move any slower then it normally does. Maybe a graphics driver issue? Or maybe it really is f@h...when i run games at home, i have to kill f@h, cuz it does really weird stuff while its running. (like: every other frame rendered by the game is pink...that kind of thing...weird stuff).

Why does my system fold much faster if im using it to other applications? WHich ranking is correct, I see on one page were #105 and on another were #103.

It sure shouldn't fold faster. It's supposed to use all availably cycles so that would be just wrong.
As far as 103, or 105, the 105 includes 2 non-teams. One is default (where the folder has joined no team, that "team" is at about 40 million or something crazy) the second place "non-team" I think, goes to google default.

I always have the weird stuff going on with my systems. While surfing the internet on one system the time per frame dropped about 8mins. After I stopped using the system, I gave it about 30 mins and checked and it was folding slower again.

Oh that. The estimator they use for gromacs really sucks. On some cores, it will say that it takes 14 minutes to finish a frame. The next time I look it says 9 minutes. The truth is found by figuring out what the log shows, or just averaging the 9 and 14.

Well I think, the estimator is fine, the frames really do take different lenghths of time, if you check your logs closely... (at least the GROMACS does it on 'my' company-laptop, p4m1.5Ghz)

We need more people...

Too bad we can't rig up some contest like "If your WU says you're a winner, you get a free AMD rig from THGC." It's a shame that something like that is unfeasable for a plethora of reasons. 🙁

You would think that THG would help out with some of thier computers. In a couple of weeks, we will be in the top 100 teams in the world. They should be able to make some hay from that.
I wonder what has happened to Sionne, and Sparky. Thier production has rally dropped off lately. We really need everyone doing thier most/best now.

That's how overclockers.com.au get more rigs to fold for them by giving out free rigs.
It's funny how they said "Your free computer must be used for folding only".
Hey, if someone wants to give me a free 7800 SLI AMD X2 box with 4GB DDR533 and 15K SCSI RAID5 (hardware XOR) I'll promise to leave it running 24/7/52 with an instance of F@H constantly running on CPU1 where it'll be molested the least. 😉

Im trying to make something good come out of something bad. At least half of my computer parts and systems that I build "New and used" were directly under the spot where the tree came through my roof. As a result, I had to load everything up and get it to a safe place. I salvaged what I could and built as many systems that I could from what was left. Instead of just letting them sit there and do nothing, I decided to hook them up and fold for now. I have 6 systems altogether but can only run 2 or 3 at one time.

According to the Extreme website, we are sitting at number 101. That means the next time we advance we will be on the leader page!!!!!!!!!

It sure took long enough for someone to comment. Wonder what's happening. Looks like the big four have sort of roled over. It's still 2 weeks to page one. If people dont start giving a [-peep-], maybe longer.

I'm try'n...i'm not sure why my pts are dropping...I've double checked all my rigs...All but one is running...My new x2 rig isn't running it, cuz it keeps having issues. I had one running in the background and one graphical client, and even though i set them to different cpus (1 and 2) they still cause each other issues. When i boot up, the graphical client comes up first, and the other refuses to come up. I can manually start it, ONLY, if i tell the graphical client in the task list to use only 1 cpu. Grr...It sits there and splits the processing on both cpus. So it doesn't actually use both cpus...the single thread just bounces back and forth. Oh well. If those settings would stick i would have less issues, but it resets itself on boot.

Ive been going back and forth on building an X2 for my personal use but im so curious as to what Intel has coming down the line next year. I built a system with the 4800 but only had it for a few hours before they came to pick it up. Not enough time to play with it, but certainly enough time to see that it is a killer CPU.

If I got an X2 chip, it would just replace my 3200. The only thing that rig does is fold 24/7. It's clocked to 2.45, the same as my s754 system. That's the one I play on.
Dont tell Crashman, but the s939 is on an abit AV8 3rd eye board. That uguru is cute. I've never tried OCing on the fly before.

Check in task manager. There are a few people who will get F@H running on your rig, for them. If you find you have any "extra" instances, check to see who's getting the points, save the logfile, and we will go talk to the F@H forum.

Yea i've been all through the task manager. I think my issue is that i was running 1 graphical, and 1 as a service. I haven't had any trouble running 2 or 4 as services (on a p4 w/HT, a dual xeon, and a dual xeon w/ht). My issue was that i use this machine as my gaming rig as well, and I don't like to have anything running in the background when i'm playing. So i want to be able to kill one of the processes. I figured the second cpu could take care of the service. But it's all for naught now anyway. Talked with a technician at Jetway last night, over an issue with 1T timings on my TCCD stuff, and was told to update my bios. Well...now my system doesn't boot. I didn't lose power or anything...no errors...It installed exactly as expected...but when it rebooted...nothing. So i'm going to give that tech a call back today at work...cuz their hours are 7am till 5pm...i work from 8am-5pm and it's an hour's drive for me, so they're closed when i can call them while i have the computer in hand.
