For some reason I just don't like the default LiquidNinja sig, it's too big and ugly. Lyall's is a step in the right direction, but I don't like the shape or colour (I'm picky I guess).

Right now I just have my sig linked to a static image, it doesn't update.

BTW: I got WU 2605 with the Windows SMP client just now, did 16min frames while watching videos and dl'ing torrents, I'll let you know how it does at idle. That's a big improvement over the recent WU's I've gotten with either Windows or Linux SMP client.

Blimy im in the top 20 produseres over a 24hr period :) ive only done 6 WU so far,

think its time Tom got the whip out and lashed thouse not working hard enouth

cheers

All folders are good folders. Every little bit helps. Good to see you get in the top 20. Maybe if ATI released a certain video card a fair while ago I might be up their with you. Anyhow, I found other things to spend my money on and I'm amussing myself in the mean time by playing older games and working too much.

Sweet 😀 , thanks for that. How do I get rid of that click to expand crap next to my sig?

Ure image is too tall so it gets the click to expand thing...try the extreme over clocking ones....they fit

kind of like this

OK,
A few little things.

1) I guess you all have noticed the SIGs are working again. 😀

2) Is anybody else having trouble getting credit for uploaded projects??? :?
I've lost a little over 2000 points in the last 4 days. 🙁
They uploaded fine but no points were awarded. :x
Yes, theye were really uploaded, I actually watched 2 of them go.
And, Yes, they were within the preferd time limit.

3) Looks like hot weather is comeing early here this year. 8O
Already had a string of 80 degree days a couple of weeks ago.
Today, and the next few, will be in the 80 range too.
This shouldn't happen here till late May or early June. :?
The point is that my folding will decrease, significantly, due to hot weather.
Costs too much to run all the dedicated folding machines and then
pump the heat out of the house too.
Will be shutting it all doun till fall as soon as it looks like hot weather
is here to stay.

Bill

had that problem for a few days as well (about 4 WU's didn't get paid), looks like they got it sorted out though...

how many dedicated machines do you have btw?

Ara

Hey i am just about to finish a WU, well i say a WU but it is V4.0 for Windows 98 and it will say WU completed 20/20 is this 20 actual WU so I should expect 20 * 110 * days points. Bcos my xp machine has 5000 frames? and only 1 WU?

hope this is enough info

It's very odd, the not getting any points for those WUs. In the past, I've seen some delays, but usually the points show up within the day.

I'm glad to see the sig images working again. I'll get around to fixing up the little how-to I posted in the distributed computing section. Two options are better than one.

It's totally understandable to give the computers a break in the hotter months. For me in Quebec, it made a lot of sense to run the computers all the time in the winter, since heating is all electrical anyway. The summer is a different matter, and I expect to be running the air conditioner a lot. At that point, I'll probably be shutting down the desktop furnace (Pentium D), but I think I'll be able to keep the other two working - a Core Duo laptop and a X2 3600+ media centre.

I would expect that you're finishing one WU. You generally don't get more than one WU at a time. The 20/20 is proabably referring to frames or some other kind of division of the work. There isn't a fixed number of frames for all WUs, so some might have 5000 and others can have 20. If you know the project number, you can look it up on the project summary page.

Hay Ara,

Glad to hear they got it sorted out. It seems to be working for me too. 8)
Never did get credit for the uploads though.
Still got one stuck too. It says:
[19:32:16] + Attempting to send results
[19:33:02] - Server does not have record of this unit. Will try again later.
[19:33:02] Could not transmit unit 06 to Collection server; keeping in queue.
[19:33:02] + Closed connections
I know what it means and I've checked the servers it tries to upload it to.
They are 171.65.103.68 and 171.65.103.100. Both of which are down. 🙁
They've been down for over a week..
You would think that if they were going to assign work they would keep a server
up to collect it.. :? I miss the 574 points. 🙁
Oh well... It.s for a good cause. 8)
Just needed to complane to somebody... Thanks. :)

Now that you posted this, I remember that I did have this problem once. It was with the 5.04 windows client. I was unable to upload the last WU I did on an older laptop, and I go the same messages as you. I tried moving the WU to another computer and uploading there, but I got the same message. I ended up just not using that laptop for folding anymore, since it was only making about 40-50 ppd and I'd just brought my media centre online. I now run only SMP clients, and I've never had this problem with them.

Ara,

I was running 16 machines total, 3 general use and 13 dedicated folders :)
3 machines were Win XP, the rest are Slackware 11.0. :)

The A64 3200+ was on surplus loan from a local co. and had to go back 2 weeks ago.
It had been folding since last Oct. :)

An XP 1900+ on surplus loan from another co. since march and will have to go back in the next month or so. They are looking for a new employee and will need it.

A friends P4 3.2Ghz folding in its spare time.

A win XP Athlon XP 1800+ used for games and such.

A P4 2.4/512/533 OC'd to 2.7Ghz constructed from parts contributed by a local computer dealer and installed in an old case I had.

An old Dell PIII 866 contributed to my folding effort by the University of Illinois Comp Sci dept.

A PIII 650, a PIII 733, Duron 1300 and an XP 2100+ all contributed by my brothers retail cash register business.

3 old surplus Celeron 466 machines contributed by a local co. that I OC'd to 525.

A PIII 933, and 2 PIII 800s that were old machines of mine that I put back to work folding.

I think that accounts for them all :)

I just joined the team last week. Running F@H on my work pc 24/7 and at home whenever I'm not gaming. Might not have 13 pcs 😛 but it feels good to contribute.

We love every contributor, very few of us can work with that many machines. However if you go around getting all of your freinds to let you set their machines a folding you can get up in the top 20 like me. (I don't have many machines myself, one laptop and one desktop, but I have a lot of freinds and family that fodl for me.

My dad is coming to visit next week. I'm going to see if I can't convince him to use his new Core Duo laptop for folding. If he doesn't want to leave it on all the time, I'll just go with the regular client, since the deadlines are much longer. Better yet, though, is if I can convince him to use the SMP kernel. My girlfriend's laptop is pretty much identical, and we're getting about 500 ppd on that with SMP.

hey MonocleCat, i just started 2, how near are u to finishing a WU?

A rough guess i recon my celeron 1Ghz, did a 20/20 in ~32 hours cpu time.

I really not to keen on letting the others have 100% for 8 hours at a time.

My p3 work box finished a WU yesterday, 20k/20k. My home machine is still cranking away on one of the 'supervillins' it should be done by today or tomorrow. My home cpu is an intel centrino in an aging dell laptop, but it hits about 2ghz and it handles the folding nicely. Building a new box at the end of the month which should be a good deal faster than both combined though. I'll see what other machines I can get going :)

It's surprising how 'fun' folding is. I watch my folding progress with almost as much excitement as my torrents :)

yer great fun, i was suprised that there are only ~600 users for this team, not saying thats a bad thing, just thought there would be more.

lol ur sig will be the target of a legal proceedings...

I would trade them all for a nice 64 bit SMP machine. One SMP machine would produce half again as many PPD as I'm getting with this lot. 😀

And a lot less heat too 8)

Bill

The SMP clients are not giving as many points anymore. I've only gotten one 2605 in the last couple weeks. Now I keep getting 2608, 2609, and 2610, they take nearly twice as long and not as many points. I am only getting 800-1000ppd now compared to 1800-2000ppd before. Also, the Linux and Windows SMP clients seem to be getting the same WU's now, so they're both slow.

OK, even with that a single 64 bit SMP client would produce as many PPD as I'm getting now. 😀

Only 1 machine is a lot less hassel than this mess I'm hearding now.

And a lot less heat. 8)

Of course, knowing me, 1 wouldn't be enough.
