Getting rid of my i7 2600 for something more recent. Current build:

i7 2600
1070 8GB TI
8GB (4x2) DDR3
500GB SSD
650W Bronze PS

I would like to get 1080 144 in most games, with some headroom for high fps in 1440p+ down the road, currently looking at the Ryzen 2600

Ryzen 2600 is amazing but the Ryzen 2700 is also amazing. They're both great choices just if you want that like 10 - 20% performance increase at max overclock get the R7 2700

Also you are aware you need to get a new motherboard to fit the Ryzen (AM4) socket right?

You probably need:
A whole new motherboard
New Ryzen Chip
8-16GB of DDR4 ram (it has to be specific)

but if you upgrade you'll have a really nice build :)

For 144hz you will definitely want as much CPU as possible.
I would wait a bit for Ryzen 3000 to launch in like 15 days.

If you definitely want to upgrade now, I would pick a 2600x or 2700, B450 motherboard, and some nice ram.
