I know the case and the cable management is a mess, and the motherboard is brownish instead of black, but I haven't had the money to buy better components yet :)

Hi Guys, been wanting to post my build here for a while, the point of project Groudon is to make overkill my bitch. I have an MSI Z97 Gaming 7 running an I7 4790k and 16GB HyperX Beast 2400mhz, a H100i for CPU cooling and AF/SP fans cooling the case. The GPU's are Crossfire R9 290x Lightnings, for storage i have 3 1TB Seagate Barracuda's and 2 Samsung 840 Evo 240GB SSD's. All of this is powered by an EVGA Supernova 1600w G2 (yes i know its too much) and inside a Corsair 900D. The only issue I have with this build is the goddamn Cables.
Criticise away 😉

I built my first PC (well had it built by Fry's)
Operating system is Windows 10 64bit.

Motherboard: MSI z97a Gaming 7
Processor: Intel Core i7 4790k 8MB 4.1 GHz
RAM: Vector 3 Red 16GB 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 980 G1 Gaming 4GB 256bit 1228Mhz Core Clock
Cooling: Corsair H110i GT 280mm
Power: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 850w ATX
Drives: 1) 480GB OCZ Trion SSD
2) 1TB Mains HDD 7200 RPM 64MB Buffer
3) 1 TB Mains HDD 7200 RPM 64MB Buffer
Optical Drive: Blue Ray R/W 16X
Wireless: EDiMax AC1200 Dual Band PCI Adapter (however I have my PC connected through the ethernet port on the motherboard)
Case: Thermaltake Core V51
Lighting: NZXT Hue LED controller

I benchmarked using Firestrike free demo version in 64bit settings. First was in MSI Gaming mode and I scored about a 11,300 or so. Second was using MSI's software OC Genie to put it in their optimal overclocking mode. The test then came back at about 12,200.

*edited, I removed the questions since it wasn't appropriate for this thread, sorry - my bad.

Those temps are quite normal for a well cooled i7. I read an article the other day (and now I can't find it for the life of me) that tested what temperatures should be seen on different Intel chips and you are well below the max. Especially for an i7. That radiator looks to be working out well for you.

Just built my first computer for mild/moderate gaming on an EXTREME(ly lucky) budget, and I used this site for a lot of insight before I became a member, so I figured I'd post the final result!

CPU: Intel Core i3-540 3.06GHz OC'd to 3.52GHz on stock cooler
Mobo: ASRock P55DE3
RAM: 4x2GB DDR3 1600
GPU: PowerColor Radeon HD7950 3GB Boost State
HDD: 250GB 7200RPM Laptop Drive (waste not want not)
PSU: Ultra Xfinity 500W
Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition
Other: ASUS disk drive, and a front USB 2.0 dock.

I'm looking to upgrade the processor around Christmas/Tax Return to an i7-860 or i5-760.

And about the PSU... that's where the build story gets interesting...

I was given my case and graphics card by a friend when he upgraded his system, and I already had the RAM and HDD from working at a tech department for a few months. A few days ago I went to a local thrift store and saw a bunch of PC's for cheap, and I found my donor system for $7! It was generous enough to lay its life on the line and supply me the processor, motherboard, PSU, and the disk drive and additional front USB hub.

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

This is my rig. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is the first time I have ever built a desktop rig myself. I take pride in my own work building it up from scratch using my own hands, so I name it the F-15E Strike Eagle :

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo
Motherboard: Asus Z87-Pro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Palit GeForce GTX 980 4GB JetStream Video Card
Case: Zalman Z3 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional
Case Fan: Noctua NF-A9 PWM 46.4 CFM 92mm Fan
Monitor: LG 24MP55HQ-P 60Hz 23.8" Monitor
Loudspeaker : Microlab M310 40W

What do you guys think of it ?

Here are the photos :

Monitor & Loudspeaker :

It is a pack of water-vapour absorber made up of silica crystals. Since I live in a country in the far east which is near the equator, it has a wet tropical weather. Hence, I think equipping my Strike Eagle with 2 packs of silica will help drying the air flowing inside its case when it is offline. 😀

What do you think of my rig ?

Thanks for the compliment m8. Actually the Zalman Z3 Plus is quite a niche case when it comes to routing the 8-pin mobo to the other side of it, since the top of it leaves quite a little space for the 8-pin connector to slip in and plug into the mobo. That is the main reason of the mess.

Decided to upgrade my build just a little more and added a second GPU but had to also put in a larger power supply so I went with the Thermaltake 1200W Toughpower Grand Gold. Also found this nice MSI rigid SLI bridge that adds some bling.

That was because they had just been replaced. I had a bad cable with my PSU and it took out 6 of the drives. I have the ones I had data recovery insurance on out getting that done right now, and the data will be put back on the new ones. I just installed those 6x 5tb drives on this past Friday.

Before I had 4x 5tb drives and 2x 3tb drives in their place. Thankfully EVGA is going to refund me the replacement costs of those drives, but still, the loss of so much data hurt. Ohh well, I think the majority of what was irreplaceable was on teh ones I have out at Seagate for data recovery. Shouldn't take long to get a bunch on the new drives either with my astrophotography, video, and regular photography. I work with stacks of 500+ images in RAW format at times for the astrophotos.

*edit: The Intel 730 SSDs did have something on them, but I backed it up to Amazon and moved stuff around, btu have not put it back on them again. Probably will next weekend.
