This was a highly OC'ed i7 920 with 12 GB's of RAM and SLI. I held the top spot on SETI@Home for awhile with it.

This set up used an Opteron. It's from my "blingy" phase:pt1cable:

Nothing fancy going on here. Just needed a little upgrade from the last build I did back in 2009. This one was done in late 2014. Thought about doing a full blown x99 setup but this rig has ended up costing nearly $2000 for JUST the box. For something that is currently, technically obsolete, I think it will still give me a few good years.

Well, i just went out and bought a Corsair H100i GTX, becuase i want to OC my new cpu that just arrived in today (4690k). Got it installed, must say makes the inside of the case looks slick not having a bulky ass fan in there (hyper 212 evo). Also threw in 16 gb of ram and got rid of the 8gb i had.

So heres an updated parts list for my rig

Figured I'd post this over here since I realized the members systems discussion wasn't where I was really intending to have posted at originally. This is clearly in progress and some of my modifications were inspired by the Define S build above done by Bill Owen (Monstermawd) over at MNPCtech which is the one you see up above. Clearly, I've taken it my own direction, although I did use his tutorial on the front panel cutout as somewhat of a guide to my front cutout. The intention with this was to get an H440 red/black type color scheme using the Define S which I felt had more room and features than the NZXT case did.

Still plenty of stuff to do on this including the custom "Man of Steel" case emblem which is to represent the S in Define S and the Skylake CPU it uses, plus, Superman is just a badass anyhow, so why not. Going to be custom sleeving the PSU cabling using para 550 paracord at some point, installing Aerocool DS 140 red/black fans as I wasn't extremely happy with the overall look of the Noctua NF-A15's after coloring them with vinyl dye and adding a few more interior touches like a custom PSU cover and custom made panel for the back wall on the right hand side where the liquid cooling reservoir is intended to be mounted.

Also planning to add an NZXT Grid v2 and Hue+. I may or may not actually go with a custom loop at some future date, but for now I intend to continue using the Noctua cooler that's in there. Probably I'll do a full build log once the additional details are completed. A little bit of photoshoping the background out doesn't hurt either. Build is as follows:

Intel i7-6700k@4.6Ghz
Gigabyte Z170x-Gaming 5
G.Skill DDR4 3000mhz TridentX 16GB
4x Noctua NF-A15 case fans (These will be replaced in the next few days with the DS 140's)
Noctua NH-U14S with an NF-A14 PWM fan (This has more static pressure and more pleasant sound pitch than the A15 that comes on it.)
Sapphire R9-280 Dual X graphics card (Placeholder until I can get a decent card in there. Recently sold my 290x to my beggar brother whose older card died on him and was pestering me since he knew I planned to replace it anyhow)
Define S case
EVGA G2 750w PSU
Samsung 850 EVO 240GB SSD
3 x1TB HDDs

Couple of crappy pics with the Hue+ lighting. Planning to get a decent camera so that when I get the cable sleeving and final touches done on this rig I can take some pictures that are worthwhile. This camera just won't capture lighting well. You get the idea though.

Just got all my cable combs and clamps in from Mainframe customs today, so I'll probably start sleeving this weekend and I'm really not looking forward to that bit of business, but it's one of those labors of love.
