neither.. if you are going to get a razer keyboard please for the love of all thats good don't get the lycosa lol. I have owned two both broke so fast and wore out/had issues with touch pad so silly and keys were weak sauce.

Better quality keys would be

Black Widow Ultimate Stealth Edition

they use Cherry MX Brown keys which are good for typing and gaming and easy to press. The regular Black Widows use Cherry MX Blue switches which are good for typing, I am typing on it blues right now and its very easy but it makes gaming harder because of the function of the blue switch. The brown switch however doesn't have that issue so its a better buy.

To be honest, you should consider this keyboard out of all ^_^

http://www.mionix.net/page.php?al=zibal60

or a Ducky Shine or Daskeyboard.com or WASDkeyboards.com or Filcos

all excellent choices w/ great keys.

Yeah I've heard the Lycosa supposed to be shi*e

Awesome mate I never knew there was a "Stealth edition" of the Black Widow. I was going to buy the Black Widow a while ago but the sound of the cherry blues would drive me mad during gaming and also the problem with "double tapping" on blues put me off so I started looking at regular keyboards with standard dome switches.

Definitely gonna look into the Black Widow stealth edition now.

I just bought a Rosewill Mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Browns. I've been doing some research on keyboards, and I knew this was the kind I wanted, and fortunately Newegg has a deal TODAY (Nov 3rd) where you can get 20% off all Rosewill keyboards!

So my $110 mechanical keyboard went down to $88. I'm stoked!

Here's the link to the one I bought:

I gotta wait a week till my enermax fans get here, I am thinking about buying 3 more and just running 6 of them w/ the psu flipped and no door mesh(window mod) would equal pretty neutral airflow. Or I could leave the two front LED corsair fans although I have no clue how much air they move.

So much space, just need more cable ties/clips to be able to manage them cables behind mobo easier >_<

threw one of my old scythe fans into the top for better exhaust till new fans get here ^_^

That 500R is looking better and better everytime I see it, Maybe when I get my 78xx/79xx I'll either white paint/white fan change my 902 or get the white 500R 😀

nice move, good luck with the drivers install, keep me posted as to which 'hacked drivers' you used..

Got my Hybrid physX installed no issues so far. Haven't played a game but I verified I had PhysX in GPU-Z

After I run it through the paces I'll post what drivers I used. But I followed THIS OBVIOUS HYPERLINK step by step and it was perfect. Started and done in like 5 minutes.

Very nice build mate. I wish the 690 II Advanced came with rubber grommets. Going to try and find some that fit from another case or from someplace else.

What temps are you getting with your NH-D14 @ 1.272v?

in BF3 @ 75F room temp

53C-55C package
51C-54C 2 cores
49C-51C 2 cores

idk if my thermal compound is on properly or not. Might end up redoing it to see if temps drop more.

Seems ok to me, but as far as I know BF3 aint very taxing on the ol' CPU. What are your temps like on prime?

Running dual 6950s in crossfire, my 965BE was doing 98% cpu usage constantly give me drops into the 20's/30's fps wise.

Added the 2500K and now I can do 60fps constantly with 60% GPU usage LOL win. I think toms review on cpu usage was half thought of since it really only defined the usage for a single gpu and not for multi gpu setups that require much more power. I am only running on 1080p yet from Toms review I should be able to get 60fps constant (w/ vsync) with a 965BE with my two cards, which is incorrect to say the least.

So I say, yes BF3 is a cpu intensive game, how else could I do 56C in prime95 with my 965BE and then 54C in BF3...

Same goes for 2500K from prime95 to bf3 I only see 2C diff in temps. Which tells me its a cpu intensive game. Compare that to say L4D2 where I do 4-6C less than prime95 temps.

Ok mate calm down I'm not saying it isn't CPU intensive, I've never played the game. I'm just saying from what I've read I heard it wasnt very taxin on the ol' CPU.

I've routed every unused cable behind my HDD tray, wish I got a modular PSU :/ I'll have a go at the rest of the cables later.

Is a bottom intake fan worth it? I can only fit a 80 or 100mm next to my PSU.

If you utilize the motherboard tray and case cutouts, most cables are long enough, that you can feed them behind, and hide them. And then zip ties, and twist ties can help clean up the rest.

I might try doing that. Unfortunately the CM 430 has very limited cable management options, so there are no case cutouts for zipties.

nice. you got the 500r! looks great man.

This is the first computer I've ever purchased/built.

Case: Rosewill Challenger U3
CPU: i5-2500K
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 6950 1GB
Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular
Optical Drive: LG CD/DVD Burner
Extra: Wireless Adapter
Extra: Silverstone PCI Express Card with USB 3.0 Internal Connector
Case Fans: 5 of them. One front, one top, one back, and two side.

I set everything up and played with it for a week, and tonight I spent three hours taking everything apart and doing some good ol' cable management. It's not perfect, but it's as good as I can get 'er, and I'm satisfied.
Here's the before picture:

And here she is now:

I don't know how to say this without sounding like a total douche, so please forgive me.

But I can't fathom why someone would get 16GB of RAM and stay on stock cooling. With a K no less! I personally would've taken 8 GB of RAM and spent some money on a $30 after market HSF

Yup I sounded like a douche. Also if someone had said something that douchey to me, about my build, I'd probably take offense.

So sorry again, and I understand if I ruffled some feathers.

Quote from Zip's thread,
**Even with the extra wiring, I got it looking cleaner, and I even removed two obsolete cables by condensing all my plugs from my modular power supply.
Though it's not perfect, I'm satisfied.
I also still have the smaller ATX power cable dinosaured over the GPU because it was too big to fit between the motherboard and middle plate, and I didn't want to cut a hole. It would have been more trouble than this computer is worth.**

It is looking better than the start point man, but good C.M. comes from cutting that hole because not having the line on view is immeasurably worth it when people say, oh my gods, where are your cables?
😛
I think the main point here is that you have the will, and I know that although you say you're satisfied now, things will niggle, and you will be ripping it apart again soon because xyz is just bugging you to hell hehe 😛
Looking lots better, but room for improvement yet mate :)

Nice setup. You have some very nice hardware mate.

It looks a lot better after you did some cable managment, but you should also be able to get the CPU power cable round the back of your motherboard.

Get yourself an aftermarket cooler and give that 2500k a nice overclock.

2nd GPU arrived...

Coolermaster Haf 922
Intel i5 2500K@4.5 & ASUS P8Z68-V Pro
Corsair Cooling A70
G.SKILL 2X4GB DDR3-1600
x2 EVGA GTX 580 SC
PC Power & Cooling 910W PSU

Thanks for the comments..

So far running without any hiccups. My CPU is stable at 4.5Ghz with only 1.26V. GPU's currently running stock (797/2025) - no need to push them.

Didn't really do/run benchmarks yet....any request?

Hey, no feathers ruffled. I understand it's not perfect. I've been drooling over clonazepam's build, and mine is nowhere near as clean, even without the wc.
I bought the 16GB of RAM because I needed it for video editing. I've been stuck with a 4GB RAM laptop for two years now, and video editing on that thing was just a major headache. Most of the in-process frames have to be stored in RAM before you can review them, so speed and quantity are exponentially better than what I had.

I agree totally.
No offense but it looks like a slapped up build.
No time taken whatsoever.
Get some cable management done man!
The APS cable can go behing the mobo tray easily from what i see.
However congrats on your first build mate 😉
I had another thread where I asked about this very question. I was so annoyed that both my motherboard power cables were climbing up over everything and it looked horrible, along with everything else that was jumbled in there. I spent a long time working the larger ATX cable through the backside (which was a difficult job because any way I worked it, the side panel wouldn't go on without me forcing it to bend some, and I didn't want that). Then I spent even longer on the smaller ATX cable. I even unscrewed my motherboard and tried to work it underneath the motherboard tray, up through the CPU cutout, behind the motherboard (WITHOUT bending it!), and then up and over. Unfortunately, I was so worried because my motherboard was having to warp as the cable was underneath it that I decided to quit that route.

As you can see from this picture:
Io3fz.jpg

There is a tiny bit of room in the top left corner of my case where I could have cut a new hole. But I don't have easy access to a dremel, and so I figured it was more trouble than this computer is worth. On my next, more expensive build in a few years, I'll have the experience of building a case up a few times, and I'll be more ready to start the brain surgery.

The other thing that I've kept in mind is that I have a smallish mid-size ATX case with full size equipment in there and a few accessories. I didn't have a much room to be lazy, but I worked with what I've got and I'm happy with it.

Thanks! I spent about 3 months reading articles and reviews, and once I had the item I wanted in mind, I waited for discounts and then I pounced.
See above comment about the smaller ATX cable and why I chose to leave it.
I'm planning on OCing the K, but not for a week or so. I know you have to burn in the items at stock, so I'm just enjoying the fact that I have a computer that is more than 10x better than my laptop, and I want to see if anything breaks right off the bat. I don't want to start out overclocking and then void my warranty. Plus I've read somewhere that you should "burn in" your new components or something. I'm not sure what that means other than maybe...Prime95, but I'm reading more about it. But in the future I'm excited to get an aftermarket CPU cooler, because the current one I have is now the loudest fan on my case. :)

Oh, and Moto, thanks for sticking out for me!
Yeah, the smaller ATX cable bugs me, but I can't see it with the panels on. Maybe someday..... haha
I knew that when I posted in this gallery I'd get pounced on about cable management, because that's what always happens. So I put my case together, left it for a week, noticed areas to improve, and then I improved on it. I did all this BEFORE I posted in this gallery. So I was very surprised that even after I went back and fixed things up, I still got pounced on for cable management! I don't mind some good critical comments about areas that I can improve on, but there's a difference between begging perfection from a first-timer and instruction on areas to improve. 😛 I'm not offended, because I went back and fixed things, and it satisfies me at the moment. Like Moto says, it'll probably bug me later and I'll do something about it. I'm merely saying this so that the next time some n00b comes around and posts, but has actually put some thought into the process (like me), they won't be dogpiled on for things they've already worked on. Again, I'm not offended, and I know how to improve.

Hehe, This is a gallery where folks 'show off' the builds, its human nature to pounce as you put it,
you can solder your 20+4 cables to the back of the mobo and people would just shrug and say 'I'd have put a cover block on the socket or de-soldered it'
/disclaimer, I can't solder that well or I'd have already done it 😛
I jump on folks for C.M. but its always accompanied by a genuine offer of help as well,
don't worry about haters hehe, just enjoy your new build and it will improve or not as you go along and as you said, you know a few tricks now for next time :)

Run benchmarks on what ever you got. It would be fun to see the results of even old games as the FPS count should be really high.
