^ I'm lawling because the 580 is $430 US off the Egg. The 7870 will be $80 cheaper and still perform just as good. Even better. The main thing of my concern though is power sumption and temps and wow are they cool and low.

Lol pretty good cable management if you ask me :)

Hey guys I know I've talked about 7870 upgrade a lot but should I? Or should I go for an i5 2500K w/ the Asrock Extreme3 Gen3 Z68? (That'd be from a 5850 or 955+ MSI 790FX-GD70)

I went Asus but I can tell you that going with a new mobo and the 2500K, with a decent air cooler and 4.5GHz, that HD5850 will wake up.My HD5870 sure did.

Hmm... Now I'm in a debacle (I think that's how you spell it). See I've found a buyer for my 5850 and I was planning to sell the 5850, get $140. I already have $350 for the 7870 and slowly accumulate money to get the 2500K.

Well I'll post on Craigslist. See if I can get an offer on the MB+CPU and then see what do. It'd be nice to just get it all done at once. Super awesome because Fry's pricematches Microcenter even though I don't have a Microcenter in Washington. 😀

Finally finished my uber rig. Currently got about $4,000 invested in it and I am not finished yet. Wanted to show my thanks to the community for helping me pick the right parts to make this system as good as it turned out to be.

Case - Corsair Obsidian 800D
Mobo - Asus Maximus 4 Extreme-Z
Cpu - Intel core i7 2700k running at 4.6
Gpu - EVGA gtx 590 Classified Edition
Ram - 4x4gb Corsair Vengenace 1600mhz ddr3
Psu - Corsair AX1200
HD1 - WD Black 1tb 7200rpm
HD2 - WD Black 500gb 7200rpm

Would list all the water cooling stuff but didn't think it was that important. On to the pictures.

I only have 2 fans at the top pulling air through the triple 120mm radiator right now. One of the fans I got was dead and would not work. Planning on buying 3 more and getting a replacement for the dead one. Planning on getting a flow indicator so I know how my pump is doing as well. I planned to have a SSD but for some reason windows and my bios for that matter could not find it so I am stuck with a $200 SSD that won't work for me, probably a mobo issue.

Hose on the bottom is a drain port for when I want to drain the system and all that fun stuff. Got clear tubing with red coolant that is non conductive and non corrosive. Got Koolance compression fittings on all my pieces. Koolance cpu block, EK 590 gtx block as well. Not sure about the reservoir. Pump is a swifttech pump with a custom mod kit put on to make it shiny.

Gallery of the computer as I was building it. Also got a dark picture of the system to show how bright it is in the dark.

Heres a link to the fans I got for it, just incase anyone wants them.

System is quiet as it is, only sounds coming from it is the hard drive activity right now. Going to put the SSD on Craigslist for now and see if I can sell it. Its a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 120gb.

Did the best I could with what I had available. There is not as much room in the back behind mobo tray as it was described. Pulling the wires anymore and the back panel would have a bulge, which I hate. No zip tie anchors on the back so I had to go out and buy some sticky anchors to keep thinks orderly. I think I did pretty good in regards to cable management, at least I have seen worse. Pretty sure you would have had a heart attack if you saw my last system.

Hehe, those who know me,**Edit, Yup, Mal knows me well enough hehe** would tell you that my comment was pretty much glowing praise :)
as for 'no cable tie anchors', drill two holes big enough for a tie to pass through, maybe an inch apart, feed the tie through from the rear of the case (so the block is not under the mobo) and loop back on itself, instant tie anchor :)

and you can obviously have them wherever you need them, not where In Win/coolermaster/thermaltake decide you can have them
@lutfij, so many times my finger was on that button hehe 😛
I'd miss Toms too much though mate

hehehe - mal with his pictograms :)

edit: modo posted before me...yeah I understand that love hate relationship you have with THG 😀
* i actually have those tie mounting holes in my case lining the edge of my drive bay+mobo tray - nice and out of the way :)
