TV as primary display

Hey everyone, I have a AIW 9800 pro and want to use a TV as the primary display. Of course it will be an HDTV but I have a few questions...

What resolution can I expect, specifically with this TV <A HREF="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1077626340538&skuId=6407836&productCategoryId=pcmcat31800050031&type=product" target="_new">here</A> or something similiar (aka bigger.) It says it can support 720p but does it detune it to 480p or something else.

Which should I use, the DVI-D input or Component inputs. I figure they are both the same but it says the DVI supports 1080i, 720p and 480p while it says component dvd players will only do 480p.

Sorry, I'm a bit illiterate when it comes to TV's, but thats why I come here.

Anyone currently running anything like that? I just need to know if text is readable from 10 to 15 feet away.

720p would probably be preferable, it's 720x1280. ATI says not to use the DVI connection directly, and TV makers say not to connect a computer via DVI, but that's all based on the thing not being configured properly for the native 720p resolution.

I'd try to stay away from interlaced settings if possible because the PC probably doesn't do interlacing correctly, and non-interlaced pictures tend to be sharper. That scratches 1080i, which would probably give you strange results with text and so forth anyway.

Rage3D tweak enabled HDTV modes including 720p on my AIW 9600 Pro. I'm fairly sure the 720x1280 resolution of 720p is actually called 1280x720 from computer hardware. And I trust the DVI cable more than component inputs when it comes to clear, accurate display.

Thanks for the reply, do you think at 720p text will be legible on a 26" screen? I know 720p would give better quaility than 1080i. Do you really think that damage will really happen to the TV through wrong refresh rates and what not? It never personally happened to me and I set the refresh rate wrong a couple times. Hopefully they will have a return policy if it doesn't work out well.

Digital flat panels and HDTV's should have the same refresh rate in the U.S., so that only leaves the resolution. And you can enable HDTV resolutions with Rage3d tweak if they aren't enabled by default.

Yes, I think 720P will make fairly small text legible on a 26" flat tube, plasma, or LCD TV. As far as projection TV's go, what's the point of "HD" when you get a fuzzy picture, they might as well be called WSTV's (for Wide Screen) or something, can't trust projection TV to deliver high resolutions.
