Question Upgrade from AMD FX-8370?

My friend wants to upgrade from his AMD FX-8370 but has an old AMD3+ socket motherboard. What's his best option with that motherboard? Budget probably around $300

There's nothing I'd recommend for that socket, for the budget your friend can get a AM4 CPU that easily beats the best AM3+ CPUs.
